Default ***REVIEW*** TreadStone Intercooler A+

I did some testing today with my New TreadStone TR1245 Intercooler, 4-1/2" x 12-1/2" x 22 core.

I have a Vortech V2 SC-Trim with 16-17PSi.

Todays Ambient Temp was 90-92*

Max IAT's were 100* during runs, that's just 8-10* above Ambient.

I did 3-4 WOT runs to the top of 3rd gear.

For Comparison, my Old Intercooler, 4" x 12" x 24 core Cheapy.

Old IC, Ambient Temp was 85*

Old IC, Max IAT's were 130-135*, 45-50* above Ambient

These are the FMIC's (Treadstone) I use as well, just the vertical cores, and they do a great job. I did do a custom FMIC just like the one you posted for a customer that went with a 76mm billet turbo. Just a different end tank configuration:

The really nice thing about the horizontal core units is that they have a splitter on the inlet. This way the air is distributed throught the entire core, not just the bottom (in your case).

Cool, I went with the Treadstone TR1045 / 10.5" X 22" X 4.5"

Good to know it's working well for you... Can't wait to get my baby back so I can put her thru her paces...

Sounds Good, you'll have her back soon, but it never hurts to have a couple extra inches for your baby to make her scream.

I sure hope so. Besides the IC, I increased the size of the oil cooler, will be running open headers and a Bellmouth Velocity Ring on the Blower, with no Filter. Also changed front Skinnies from the M/T S/R Radial to the M/T ET Fronts, Super Super Lite. The whole wheel and tire weighs much less than just the old S/R Radial Skinny tire alone, and I thought they were lite. Also going to Step up the Tune.

I think I'll be in the 11.30 range @ 122-123mph

I'm posting a F/S add for my Radial front Skinnies right now, if anyone is interested.

I went with the 10.5" to give me enough room to route a big honking air filter on top of it... Doing the re-route for the "G" thru the core support and it will make it much easier to clean and re-oil the filter every 3-6 months...

Ya, I no longer have room above the IC for the Filter, If I did I'd still have my stock crash bar.

Yeah, I see how you re-routed it.. Looks good!.... I had a CAI once upon a time when I first got the G but found it a PITA to have to go thru the wheel well or take off the front bumper every time I cleaned the filter.

i know this is old. however i had to bump it to thank oldmanZ once again for the Info. just ordered same cooler and will be ditching my momentum intercooler if anyone wants to buy it . any thoughts on having a custom crash bar made tim? im considering something simular to what alot of the drift community uses. maybe like a strut bar kinda thing that i can install and remove.. either way w this intercooler factory crash bar will come off. no way to modify the stock crash bar (i know it would hack alot of it away) and still leave some of it huh? maybe i dont realize just yet how big it really is. awaiting mine in the mail.

The real issue with the crash bar (i've seen) is the width between the bar supports is too small for endtanks to fit.
I've been thinking about keeping my treadstone personally and then having a crash support (similar to some that you find on drift 240's) not sure if we are thinking of the same thing, but we probably are. That being said, I'm not sure if would want to just have a whole new front end support instead.

you can just angle the top of the IC back and it will clear the crash bar with no issues. Thats how I had mine mounted with the crash bar

just like this 1. http://www.enjukuracing.com/products...9%252d94).html

bash bar is what most call it. maybe like a single bar that does simular to this ---<>--- across the front in front of intercooler and bolts to where old support was. cant cost too much to have a fab shop make 1. but would it fit w bumper on.

any issues with cooling if i do this you think? i took measurements and thought about that same thing. i can even hack some of the bar up in the back to make it easier. but if it even slightly affects the cooling why even run such a large cooler i guess.
