Default AEM infinity status

since people have asked me to keep them posted i figured i would just make a thread and keep it updated.

one thing to note that i have discovered today is if anyone moves to this ecu you HAVE to completely uninstall the software for software updates otherwise it acts funky.

for my issue i was having apparently i have had a couple crank sync errors in the ecu this entire time but redoing the software(i only modified my v90 installation to v92) i know show two different errors. ill post more on monday when i hear something from sam at AEM.

sam did find an error with the standard DE software that they are fixing currently as i type this however 4 cam engines should have no such issue. he believes my particular issue is due to the stock setup inversing the signal between cranking and running and my sensors are putting out the running signal

All the pickups should be the same. The revup just has two additional cam sensors and the EVT clutches.

yah they have two seperate cam/crank patterns for it though in the setup wizard the revup one just adds the exhaust cams and that was the only thing they initially tested. when they got a two cam engine in they began testing and found a error in the firmware when dealing with the two cam selection which they are fixing. the revup setting should work fine on a standard non revup as well however for some reason my ecu will not accept that cam/crank signal selection and locks the ecu requiring a firmware reflash. sam isnt quite sure why its doing that however as they havnt seen that error yet.

not sure why my sensors are putting out the running signal during cranking everything is wired exactly like stock but until i get the new firmware theres nothing i can do.

well the aem infinity is officially a plug and play option for the 350z now. im currently running a beta of the plug and play firmware and must say its working great now(revups should have ran great before or DE's with the revup timing pattern since they are the same, i couldnt get it to load). by the time someone buys a plug and play version the official firmware SHOULD be available for download(thats not from aem i just know the firmware is done they just need to package it for regular users)

ill be tuning it this week(well what i can im still waiting on my new plates) and reporting back.

going to say that the user interface for this is pretty easy, its different from the haltech but for the base fuctions its easy for the end user the more complicated stuff can be confusing but most people wont need that stuff.

so far my biggest complaint for this thing is the lack of wideband outputs, meaning you either need something like a aem guage with its own sensor or have something like the haltech controller outputting to the guage(only the guage though if something has this idea definitely DO NOT try to wire it into the infinity the guage would be cheaper anyway)

yah its a oversight imo even if minor, but the infinity does have full CAN, so while i really hate the can system i could go to a digital dash and sell my stuff mayby the display unit and wire the stock wheel speed sensors directly into the ecu, need to anyway for traction control would just need to configure it in the system.

Not many standalones out that have a wideband output. Not sure if that is really something to bring the AEM down on as none of the ohter VQ options offer one either.

Thanks for working the bugs out before my Revup ITB project takes advantage of this unit.

well im just comparing to the haltech(or at least the old one) but it needed a complete external controller. depending how long it takes for me to get off island i might hold off till i get back to ohio and switch to a digital dash.

the revup firmware has actually been good to go since day one it was the non revup cam/crank selection that had some errors that had to be fixed and it was AEM who fixed it i just sent logs and such lol

i moved away from my350z after the last absurd ban they gave me especially after the i told the mods i would not bring any products im developing for the vq to my350z if they continued to protect the trolls and ignorant and they didnt really care because those people are new members who make the site money regardless if they contribute nothing and only ruin the forum. i love the infinity but been focusing on a g35 twin turbo i am building for someone local if you have any questions you can hit me up on facebook https://www.facebook.com/jeremiah.donovan.549
