Default Found SALE on GReddy 18G internal wastegate

Would be interested in your thoughts in general about using this turbo.

I have been researching the different options for my future F/I project. We're talking at least a year down the road.

I have been giving serious consideration to doing my own custom TT build.

Found this crazy sale on GREddy's website

http://www.shopgreddy.com/turbocharg...td05h-18g.html

Looks like an amazing sale.
Is this the same turbo found in their TT kit, except with internal wastegate?
If one wanted to still go with an external wastegate, is it still an acceptable practice to weld the stock one shut?

The turbos above are listed 10cm^2 for size. The turbos in the 350z GReddy TT kit are 8cm^2, that's for both the 18G and 20G upgrade.

I believe the dimensions are for the exhaust housing. I am looking at TT for faster turbo response, so this larger exhaust housing is probably not right for me.

It depends on what your intentions are for the build. for a street car greddy 20g spool up pretty good, max boost at 4300-4500 rpm. There is a nice kick in the pants as the torque ramps up and they hold boost well.

Again it depends on what you are looking for.

I have really been enjoying AutoX recently with plans to regularly spend time at some of the road courses around here as well. Both the 18G and the 20G that come in the 350z kit have a smaller exhaust housing than the turbos on sale. So this turbo setup is going in the opposite direction for me.

Since my main two interests for the car are total opposites, I'm going to try to build a setup with a relatively flat torque curve. A peak whp# is not my goal. I still have a lot of research to do, but I do know that 18G 8cm^2 is probably the absolute biggest I want to go with.

Thanks for the reply.

from the pictures, those turbos have the 4 bolt flange, which would not be compatible with the Greddy manifolds. Greddy does sell their exhaust housings seperately though, so you could pick up the 3 bolt housings in the size you want, and use the manifolds the guy above me is selling.
