New March 04 SCC Issue.
Hey guys. Has anyone checked out the new March issue of Sports Compact Car?
Two very interesting articles. The first article confirms that the Axis car owned by James Chen has won the Ultimate Street Car Challenge. The car is powered by an ATI Procharger. He went against some beasts, Supercharged Viper, Skyline, 2 Supras, MR2 etc.. all modified. The 350Z might have not been the quickest, most powerful car in the competition, but it was consistant and won. Also it was closest to stock, and that says alot, especially going against the cars it went against. Very impressive win by the 350Z.
The second article was on the JIC 350Z, which also has an ATI Procharger. It pretty much gives you details on the setup, the function of the car, and some future plans for the car. All in all, another great article. Both articles have great information, and tons of nice pictures. If you haven't read it or don't get the magazine, go to the store and grab a copy, it's worth it.

that Axis Z won the USCC? that's SAD.
it was ugly as hell and not too impressive in any category. Consistent? Perhaps, but how does that make it an "Ultimate Street Car" ?
Most of the other cars were far more impressive. Particularly Nick Wong's Skyline R32.

I am sure the car would have placed well, if not dominated had it not hurt it's self. But isn't that part of the contest, it has to last the entire time? Kinda seperates the Dyno Queens from the track cars. (I am not stating it's a dyno queen, just a figure of speach) The MR2 that was tested also hurt it's self on the Dyno, though it was just a headgasket. I just got done reading the article, and I have to say I think all cars were equally impressive. I would be proud no matter what car I owned.

I know Nick, met him last year.. he road races that R32 like crazy. It's an amazing car.
Did they happen to mention why the RB blew up?

The skyline blew up because there was some oil starvation associated with some high G-force turning...
blah blah..
Why knock the consistancy of the Z? Sure the skyline was cruising to victory....but..it never made it..
I was proud of our car =)

The R32 would have dominated, but it couldn't even last through the contest. The Z did well in all categories including civility, gas mileage, emissions, etc. etc. Remember, the name of the contest isn't the "Ultimate Drag Car", "Ultimate Track Car", "Ultimate Dyno Car", or "Ultimate Show Car", it's "Ultimate STREET Car", being one that does all of the aforementioned tasks better (or at least equivalent to) than most other cars, and retains its civility and daily-drivability at the same time. No small feat considering the past winners.
