Default q for a turbonetics guru

So after a few hard pulls, I noticed some oil smoke coming from the driver side headlight area (e.g. turbo) after parking it. Popped the hood, nothing jumped out at me - no obvious leaks or anything, and the smoking had subsided enough to make it impossible to trace. There's no smoke in the exhaust or oil in the intake so it's definitely external. Any ideas on where to look/check?

maybe its not oil, how close is your hood to the turbo

Don't think it was the hood. However the downpipe is heat wrapped, I'm thinking there may be oil/gunk buildup in the heat wrap perhaps from the oil lines. Or maybe just the wrap itself smoking as I doubt it never saw any kind of hard driving until I drove it LOL.

I haven't seen any more smoke but I haven't ragged on it again since. Would the wrap being post-turbo cause the 'initial smoke' to require driving it hard? I know header wrap would smoke almost immediately.

dj,

Is your PCV hose/connections (catch can) loose &/or disconnected?

I had this back in the day…obviously an easy fix -
