GTM 3 Inch Downpipes to Y-Pipe Questions.
Ok so to start, i just got my hands on a GTM TT kit that has the upgraded 3 inch downpipes with it. My question is what should I do for a Y-Pipe, all aftermarket Y-pipes are 2 1/2" in and 3" out. This seems like it would pose a little problem. Has anyone seen or had experience with this issue? Im also running an Agency Power single exit exhaust, so not looking for the true dual solution. Ive even considered having an exhaust shop cut the Y-Pipe and weld in two 3"-2 1/2" reducers so that the exhaust isn't just hitting a flat surface. Any input would be greatly appreciated, i thank you all ahead of time for your insight.
You'll need to either have a Y-pipe made or run dual 3", or get the 2.5" downpipes from GTM. I'm not sure that a single 3" is a great idea for a twin turbo kit, you'll probably be restricting things a bit.
Are these the 3" downpipes with tial wastegates? If so, kind of OT but if your interested in selling them I have the GTM TT kit w/out tial wastegate conversion kit which may be a bolt on fix for your problem. Although my piping bolts up to a GTM 3" TD exhaust, but I can have my builder check the downpipes to see if they are smaller 2.5" piping to mate to the what would originally be the Y-Pipes.
I've been trying to source the external wastegate conversion piping for the GTM kit for my build (GTM does not seem interested in selling a kit as I tried getting it through a vendor here for the last 5 months w/ no success) as I'd like to run around 16# and do it old school with external wastegates vs. the actuators. Just an offer if that's in fact what you got.
