Default 05 350z turbo timing chain jump possibly ?

I just got the car from a dyne tune and it made 450 at 12 psi. Upon driving it home I stopped for supper and when I went to start it the car would fire but not run so had it towed to nissan dealership . I thought it was fuel pump so I asked them to replace it but they tell me the engine is out of time and that I need timing chains and guides and its 12 hours labor to do this. I told them to replace fuel pump anyway but still same problem. If the car ran fine when I shut it off how could the chain jump and be out of time ? They said that they disconnected fuel pump and the car would run !? Is it possible who ever built the engine retarded the exhaust cam timing? I did this on my rx1 turbo when I added a headshim .

Of course it is!! How'd I know that they were gonna give you an incredible crazy estimate to fix it. Absolutely anything is possible but consider these options

Go get a second opinion and not from another nissan dealership

I can't remember exactly OP, but does your 2005 model have variable exhaust timing? I thought it came on the some models but not all of them? what trim package do you have?

Are you throwing any check engine light codes?

doing your timing chain is pretty straight forward actually.

What did it end up being?
