Default Single Turbo VQ35HR Home Fab Project

Well, I finished this about 3 months ago on my 2008 Z. All I can say is that my next investment needs to be a lift.... this was all done in a garage with jacks and jackstands. Thought I'd post up some pictures of the work. It was 2 weeks of working on it when I'd get home from work at night here and there. I spent like 3 days trying to figure out why the car was going into limp mode when I had finished it cause like and idiot, I had the MAF reversed on the driverside... frustrating but super simple fix.

I've done full builds on many vehicles, but this one was quite an undertaking, but awesome. I was thinking about just buying a kit, but I love challenges. It gained some pretty nasty power especially at my elevation (5500 to 7500+ is my normal driving elevation). Judging by all my other builds, I'm right around 375hp.

The project is focused around a Borg Warner s366 with a TIAL MVS wastegate and HKS SSQV. Boost is springed at right about 6psi. AFR's in boost sit at about 11.5-11.6. My next plan is for an Osiris tune and 8 psi. I'll be doing a fully built motor this upcoming summer so I'll keep this updated

Nice work, exhaust looks sorta close to the motor but if it works, it works.

Thanks guys. Yeah the 3" exhaust is very tight from the turbo back but no rubbing or anything. I think I'm into it for about 1800. I'll be putting together another one for a guy here in town in a couple weeks. Not sure if I'd be wanting to do anymore beyond that cause its a ton of work, but who knows, I always get bored and want projects to work on. ha ha.

damn 1800$ is not bad at all. Yeah it does seem like alot of work lol. You would make a lot of money if you sell these at a decent price.

It is going to be alot easier since I know how to run everything now... hmmm maybe I will think about fabbing up more of these once I see how this second one goes for the other guy.

The exhaust going around the passenger side to the oil pan looks like it's sitting low. Otherwise good work. If I didn't go with the godspeed kit I would of fabbed something myself up too for cheap.

it actually sits higher that the oil pan does.

On the HR's you can't go with a DE turbo exhaust plumbing from most of the kits out there because of the starter being in the way on the driver side from what I could tell... I tried to keep it on the driver side at first but found out there was really no way.

Awesome build!

How fast does the S366 spool and what A/R are you running?

Looks good Jake - start a build thread and load up some of your build pictures...I'm doing a little custom setup myself.
