The tuning number is the estimated cost to have someone reprogram your SS box using the R4 software. It sounds expensive but it takes a long time and you won't get numbers anywhere near as high as 393 rwhp w/o it.

THANKS!
The consensus is that you need at least these three gauges: EGT, Boost, and A/F. However, having these three gauges installed in my car (figure $1000 total) I can say that Boost and A/F are pretty hard to monitor while you're at WOT. I'm not so sure I would be able to hold down pedal to floor, watch RPMs so as not to hit rev limiter, watch where i'm going, and read the Boost and A/F gauges all at the same time. If I had it to do over again, EGT and Oil temp might be the only gauges I would install.

I wouldn't bother with an EGT gauge, yeah sure it will tell you how hot your running, but it won't save your ***, trust me. Just buy a good Wideband O2, buy an FJO, it's more then worth it. It's easy to monitor your A/F and boost while at WOT. You just got to listen to your engine, you'll know when to shift.
OK you just sold me on a vortech, I always wanted one for my Rustang 5.0 but couldnt afford it......But I need a reputable & experienced shop to do the work -- any recommendations....?..I live in Macon, Ga. How far does one have to go to satisfy a need for speed...... ????...Thanks Ed
Congratz to you enthuzd. I am staring at that beautiful fat torque curve. Its very strong down low for a centrifugal SC. Maybe its do to your other mods, but either way I think you have a hell of a set up now.
Ok, I just went back and dug up the dynoes for some ATI kit and the low end torque on the ATI's, 2000 - 4000 rpms, are nothing like the one on your Vortech's. What type of snail is on the Vortech kit thats causing such a divergance in torque. Is it the Crawford plenum, RT cats, and Borla exhaust giving you such gains? Again, hats of to you enthuzd.
Thanks everyone... It was just my money. It took talent to get those great numbers. Thanks ecoli.

- I'm not greedy. I'm already close enough to 400 to make me nervous about longevity... I expect track days this summer at Brainerd and Road America, both tough on motors...
zimbo
- it does look like I'm higher than 6600, but I'm still stock so go figure.
EE
- Yea, I am really excited about the TQ numbers!

enthuzd, have you raised your car's rev limiter? Looks on the graph like you're over 6500 by a couple hundred RPMs.
What are you other guys with custom tuned Vortecs running for A/Fs and timing? And what octane gas do you run?

I knew that I would raise some emotions with my post in this trend. Whenever you compare products on this board, there always seems to be tension for no reason. Alot of new potential buyers are keeping up with the vortech findings with good cause.

First of all I'd like to thank Mike at superchargers4less.com for his great price and service on the kit.
A HUGE thanks to Momin, Shane and Tyler at Elite Autosport here in Minneapolis. Especially Shane who hung in there through some software glitches!!! These guys are top notch. Check them out if you're local.
Anyway, This won't be the final dyno but here is a sample of what can be attained with this kit and a few extras. I won't have many answers to your techniucal questions. Maybe the Elite guys can chime in.
This is on a Dynojet 248c.
