Why?
Why does the ATIsc make more on the 350z than on the G35?
i have an auto g35 and going to sc it...but i don't want just 306hp (see grubbs website for dyno info) all or i should say the majority of the 350z here are pushing at least 360 on up! i thinking of going with the ati but then again there is vortec...which comes with everything i need...i just don't want to drop a wad of cash for just 310hp!!! i've seen an auto 350z push close to 400hp(12SECZ) so can someone enlighten me!!! Zimbo, dollar99,12secZ...anyone? can you list steps or produtcs i need? and pricing ...anything...THANKS IN ADVANCE...

The G35 is tuned differently than the Z. If you do similar mods to what people are doing on thier Z's and tune properly I don't see why you couldn't make the same amount of power. I believe the G35 has the same comp rate pistons and the same motor. It's all in the ECU most likely. Get the TS flash and your G will be running the Z sotware.
First of all, the automatic has more tranny loss so your at-the-wheel numbers will be slightly lower.
Second, the ATI kit on the G35 has a funky intake filter solution that reduces boost to about 6 PSI in most cases so you're going to get fewer gains.
Third, if you look at the Grubbs dyno you'll see that the car is running too rich. If they added timing retard (via a J&S box or an ECU reprogram) it would be safe to lean the A/F ratio out to as high as 12.0.
Fourth, my opinion (not knowing the actual program bits and byts) is that the Z ECU is more aggressive than the G35 Coupe and especially the G35 sedan. A Technosquare reprogram may improve the effectiveness of your ECU, but you'll still have a G35 ECU. Again, this last point is my own opinion.

Thanks for the insight...so basically, no matter which sc i take be either the ATI or VORTEC i would need J&S box and ecu program?
thanks again zimbo! oh yeah is your car a daily driver?
The Vortech comes with a timing retard solution and uses a similar fuel control solution as the ATI (higher pressure fuel pump). The Vortech is pretty safe right out of the box and will make good power if you have it tuned (I think that's why those numbers you quoted are so low. Enthuzd just posted his Vortech Z results, and his car was only making 315 before it was tuned, so the tuning is definitely required if you want to make the higher numbers).
The ATI kit does NOT come with a timing retard solution, and therefore many are adding either the J&S box or an ECU Reflash. Those that do the ECU Reflash typically eliminate the ATI fuel solution and get larger injectors and have the ECU reflash handle that as well.
Personally, I think the Vortech is nicer out of the box, since it comes with everything you need.
However, if you get the ATI tuner kit (no fuel solution) and get the ECU reflash with larger injectors and pulled timing, then I think the ATI kit can be done a little more cleanly (no need for extra fuel pump or splitsecond timing/fuel control like the Vortech has). Of course, one could always get the Vortech and use an ECU reflash with larger injectors, but that seems unncessary since the Vortech already has pretty much everything you need.
Not sure how well the ATI fits in the G35 vs the Vortech kit though.

The ATI does not fit as well into the G35 and according to a least one popular installer, ATI claims that its kit should not be run on a G35 with the 7lb pulley but a 6lb pulley instead. This is supposedly due to injector differences. Harumph.
myGThang, YES the car is my daily driver.
