Default Oil level and turbo return port

1. I want to know is it ok for oil to come up the oil return line
2. If the aftermarket sump is acting as a spacer and the pick up has no spacer on it can the dipstick be used accurately any more since the oil level is now lower??

Details

I have the HKS 3037 350z ST kit

but with upgraded 3582 turbo, FMIC, T2 flange replaced with T3

The question i have is the sump. It says add 1L in the manual.
4.7L with oil filter (stock) + 1L of sump = 5.7L

The return oil port is on top of the HKS sump.
1. When adding 5L in the oil is already coming out the oil return port - is this normal ?
2. When adding 5.7L, the oil level is 50mm from the top of the oil return line of the turbo. There enough room for oil to return ok?

The turbo is not that much higher than the sump

First thing I would do is get rid of that dinky FMIC!

The added capacity comes from the "wings" on the new pan. No need to change anything with the dipstick or pickup. When the engine is running, some of the oil will be in the engine, not in the sump. This will allow space for the oil to return to the sump.

I hear your concern but Cobra answered this in that added capacity will be in the wings of the oil pan. I had a very similar concern and I have a suspicion that I was burning oil due to oil levels in my oil pan - I retapped my lines and did bulk head fittings.

If you have more doubts about oil level I would consider something like this...all in, I spent $25

The sump is alot lower as well as having the wings. Its baffled also so i dont get with the oil level and smaller sump, the level of oil drops as the HKS sump lowers how far the oil goes down and therefore the top oil line lowers so does that throw off the dipstick reading ? the dip stick would also no go through the baffling, you can kind of see it in the picture.

so your saying if i run the engine and turn it off, take the oil return line off i should see a lower level than engine stone cold ?

The pan is lower, dropping the level, but then you added an extra quart, bringing the level up. Dipstick should be correct.

When the engine is running (not after you shut it off), the oil level in the sump is lower. This allows room for the oil to return. You don't need to have room when the engine is off, since there's no oil returning when it's not running.

ok thanks so
1. its ok if the oil is mostly up the oil dump pipe
2. even with the sump making oil level lower, adding more oil should still be exactly at the High mark on dip stick. issue is the manual says 1L but i put 700ml in and if i add more its going into the turbo
