This is my first time reading an electronic boost controller helps spool the turbo, but makes total sense. A 7psi wastegate spring opens fully at 7psi, but lets say aT 5psi it starts to open a hair.

The boost controller will leak out the pressure until it see's 7psi and closes the vent valve providing only 7psi of boost to hit the wastegate. I've never though of this before. Thanks for the info.

a EBC does help to spool a turbo a bit. Keeps the wastegate closed longer which means your turbo will spool faster. Also has the ability to precisely control boost above a springs rated pressure.

A spring is defined by its K constant. It is linear and the spring will compress to a point prior to the "wastgate setpoint" and start letting exhaust gas pass by.

Most external wastegates are poppet valve type. We use pressure on both sides to position the valve. EBC are plumbed to the top port. Bottom port is plumbed to a pre TB vac reference. The EBC limits the pressure seen on the top of the poppet valve and then leverages the spring as additional holding capacity. If the EBC fails, it should fail to atmosphere reference for the top of the wastegte.

hey guys,
so I've found that the wastegate actuator was not functioning correctly. It wasn't opening at all when hitting boost. I initially thought it was a lose hose or something. Hope this thread will help some poor souls in the future with similar issues, lol.

I need to order a new one asap. I'm calling z1 tomorrow, but any suggestions on vendors are appreciated.

cant return it? if not, maybe you can straighten itout and it should work if the rod is long enough once straightened. or you can get an extension welded onto the rod

Rather than modifying the rod I would modify the bracket to sit closer to the bypass valve

here's a number that was etched on the part. Would this be a part number?

APS is as helpful as a bag of rocks. I'm never buying their sh*t. It appears that they don't want any human contact as with many vendors.

Default replacement actuators

I you don't mind the cost.
Used these in the distant past , great quality base pressure adjustable.

if I knew it'll fit, then I'd get them.

fyi: it appears that maybe the actuator has been fabricated a bit by aps. at least that's what the turbo shop said when I've send them the info. hopefully they can fabricate something for me. The angle and the length of the rod has to be the same. i've seen a few where you can adjust the rod length.

Looks like the old one unbolts? Can you just buy a piece that allows you to thread the old rod back on?
