does one any have the R4 software working on a windows 8.1 laptop?
when it tries to connect to the ECU, the software will crash.

the software on the disk i have is 1.5 and when it installs and opens, it says up to windows xp.
so i bought what i thought was going to be the new version on their website, since the website said up to windows 8.

after downloading and installing, it still says version 1.5 and only up to xp.

tried running it in compatibility mode of windows xp service pack 3 and also in windows 7, but it still crashes.

any ideas?

im using an old laptop windows xp to download from the car. I then edit on my windows 8 and transfer the file back to the laptop to reload to the car

spoke with him and got the bottom of it.
the usb to serial adapters i have all used the prolific drivers, which would cause it to crash when connecting.
so i was able to find a usb to serial adapter that uses the ftdi drivers, and all was good.

he was even nice enough to give me a refund!!
