pull the blue sensor out...I bet it's a coolant temp sensor used as a plug...

Its oil temp. you can get adapters for that thread but then you'd have to have an even smaller fitting to fit inside the adapter and im not sure what it would be useful for at that point.

I used an adapter to put an aftermarket oil temp sensor there.

^I'm not saying it is or it's not...that does make more sense than it doesnt...but that appears to be a coolant temp sensor...
