Turbo Tuning Duration
For you turbo guys: How long from the time you dropped the car off to the time you drove it home, was your car in the shop getting the install, tune, etc.? I was wondering this because, if I get the Greddy kit, I'll probably have a week or two max because I need it to go to school. (Go Bruins!) Also, how much $ should I set aside for the install, gauges, etc.?
4 and a half weeks... mostly install and waiting on parts. If you install the Greddy out of the box, no BOV, keep your cats or already have high flow cats, then my guess is, it could be done in 10 days or less. If you add anything to it, you will increse the install signifigantly. Tuning is only one day. In order to quote install and guages, you need to pick your guages, they vary widely in price. Install on the is roughly $75 a piece. Install is recommended by Greddy at 1K, and tuning will be ~$300.
Since you seem time constrained, I'd recommend doing all of your "parts aquisition" prior to even dropping off your car. Once you have your Greddy Kit, RT Cats (or test pipe), guages, turbo timer, boast controller, and whatever else you feel buying...THEN...and only THEN...should you drop off the car. Most shops can turn the car around within a week or so...depending on the stuff you need installed.
Otherise, as mentioned above...you will wait...wait....wait....
