Very nice, are those stock headers?
Also what size up-pipe/downpipe did you running?
They are DC sport headers . The driver side header is modified (extended ) to fit a 3.5in downpipe (2 peices) . The uppipe is 3in .

2.5in crossover pipe merge to 3in to the turbo

1st peice of the 3.5 in downpipe

Vband at the firewall where 2nd peice of the downpipe will turn down

Here you can see how the header was extended out of the way

2nd peice of the downpipe

3in to turbo (ignore old smashed up front tube...that was there for mockup of the new setup)

that is so freaking clean. I'm amazed you fit a 3.5in dp right there between the strut tower and the engine but clearly it is doable.

Sweet, keep us updated, I haven't been up there in years. I only ran a 12.9, hoping to get 12.8 after I advanced the timing about 6 more degrees

So I came across this thread because I am looking into doing a custom single turbo setup on my 06 Z and really like how you opened up the space in the front, I was actually thinking of doing the same thing to make room for the turbo to push it away from A/C lines, with that said, if I were to run complete 3” hot side tubing all around, similar to your setup, is it possible with stock headers? Did you go with DC headers because of space and or to just extend it for clearance? I know with TN kit which I was going to use needs stock headers for clearance. Could the A/C lines still be used or would they need to be modified and rerouted? I already have a shop I found that can fabricate anything I need for A/C lines. I also noticed it looks like some part of the Z was cut away on driver side for the piping, but I can’t really tell. Did you have to cut away part of the body to make clearance for the piping ?

I know that is a lot but I’m super stoked about doing a custom setup and your thread on this has really motivated me to attempt this. I found a great local turbo system fabrication shop that seems fair priced. I was going to go with Rev9 kit and modify some parts but it would just be more beneficial and cost the same if not less to just fabricate my own hotside and rid of the horrible back pressure the kit has. I’ll be stock block for now looking to push 400 430 keeping the torque under 400 so I don’t blow it up and plan on doing a full fired internal build a few years from now. Goal is to set it up for the engine build for the real numbers and get experience with a turbo car in the mean time so when I do go all out I already know how to handle it, maintain it, and what to keep my eye on for reliability.

I know that is a stupid amount of info and alot of questions, but I am super stoked to tackle a custom fabricated turbo system rather than dealing with pre built kit headaches and price tags and very interested to learn from your build.

Hi I'm sorry for the late response I havn't been active on here in a very long time.
I just happened to swing back in because I am actually selling this entire turbo kit and wanted to make a sales listing . I'm not sure if you have already begun building your own kit but if not then I'd strongly recommend you save some time and just buy mine ! It includes the headers with all the hotside & colde side piping , wastegate, bov, all oil lines, the hd clamps , 7675 turbo etc. Its a complete kit .

feel free to message me
