Default help with vortech blow off valve

i just had a vortech kit installed, everything is fine except i get a crazy whistling noise when i deling or decelerating

can anyone tell me what i can do to fix it?

First of all....nice Avatar...Streets of Willow?? I am a frequent visitor with my Ducati 998

Second, does that whistler occur on normal decel? If so, I think it's just the whining of the supercharger belt...very common. If it's the sound of rushing air at high RPM in between shifts, that is the BOV expeling air into the atmosphere...which sounds cool as **it.

thanks, it is the streets of willow, i'm there once a month, you should come with us www.ridersinc.com

secondly!! it is not the belt, it is definately the blowoff valve, it is not that cool woosh sound between gears, i still have that, it is a long whistle that goes on when i'm at idle untill i touch the gas

anyways, thanks for the comments,

take care

Your BOV is adjusted too loose and is letting a small amount of air in past the valve seat thus your whistle. The reason it stops when you give it gas is that increases the vacum in your manifold and pulls the valve closed. Just crank it down a turn or two to see if it stops. Not to much or you'll get the chug chug sound when you shift. Good luck
Gary

Thanks! Yeah, Streets of Willow is a blast...some people don't like the super tight turns, but the Duc feels right at home. I hit the 1:27 on stock suspension and racing sllicks..no other mods!!

The turbo is being installed...this is like the longest two weeks of my life...I can't stop thinking about it.

Here is a pic of me on the track...sorry for the hijack.

Let me know if adjusting the screw help on the bov. I have the same problem, and when I called Vortech they said that is normal.
Also, the techs at Vortech say not to adjust bov. Let me know if you can get rid of that problem. Thank you.

Vacuum decreases when you push the throttle, or 'give it gas' because the car opens the throttle plate to allow more air into the plenum.

Sorry I should have been more specific, The pressure differential between the two points (BOV and the Manifold) increases.

Default Noisy Vortech BOV

Did anyone ever find a way to quiet the BOV? I don't mind the "swoosh" between shifts but the whistle during steady rpm or decelleration is very loud and annoying. (We currently hava a K&N motorcycle air filter on the end but it doesn't seem to help much.)

Steve, supposedly the installer tried tightening it already. I will try to do it myself this weekend also.

Having the same problem. Seems like around 1k it is the loudest. I thought it was coming from the cone shaped filter since m pop charger used to make a similar sound but from the above posts maybe I am wrong. Any new news? ideas?

I just picked up my car and I have the whisle at idle and decell .The installer said all the Vortechs he installs do this . AS soon as I give it any gas at all it stops .Going to get a filter for it. Guy at the shop said he knows of one that quiets it down quite a bit...and he is ordering it for me.

Well I didn't want to mess with it since Vortech did the isntall and it seems to be so common. Can you tell me what filter you are talking about? and possibly where I can order it from? Thank you,
