i am wondering if any other greddy guys have this problem when they let off after being in the uper boost range do you get smoke out the exhaust . it only happen when the car gos back innto vacume after a good run.
Its not oil. your car is just running really rich. No real big deal. Mine does it . It also did it on the dyno and even those guys say it ok. If it is oil, your floating your valves, I doubt, which is not good, Considering I am running more boost I doubt your valves are floating
it will shoot out little droplet which look like oil but really all that is is just dirty condensation. if your smelling it up front either you have a exhaust leak were the wastegate and turbo meet in the down pipe or you are just leaking oil and you just need to double check you lines and pan. cj
I'll bet the smoke coming out is black and not white. Black usually means your running pig rich. Many times white smoke is from burning oil. You should be able to get it tuned out if it's just an A/F ratio problem.

well afte every run it smells like oil and when i let off it throws smoke out the exuahst looks like oil to me. i checked oil level and its ok. the thing i notice is that the return system sux on this kit it goes all the way to the bottom of the pan. a return sytm should go to the top ove the oil pan the wya it is set up on the greddy it has to push the oil back in the pan. when it is done like this you should use a scavenger pump. im thining the oil jus gets backed up and gos tthrough the turbos. noone else has had this problem? maybee its jus got to much crank case pressure and may need a breather of some sort. its really gettig to me i would like to get to the bottom of this. the car runns bad *** i trapped 114.8 with only 6psi of boost it runs strong it jus throws and smells like oil when you let off in the upper gears. it has done this since day 1 of the install! i would like any ideas or comments thanks,

Is not for hijack the thread but since your talking about trouble with the greddy TT... if I put the Kit on my car with all my mods (see sig.) do I have to reflesh the ECU besides the setting that have the e-manege that bring the kit? I don't know if any of you have the same mods + the TT...
Thanks in advance!

The Greddy tune won't even BEGIN to work with cams.
Hmm... I have a friend here that have the greddy TT with the Nismo Cams, Stillen exhaust and cat pipes and put 375 rwhp (automatic Trans.) with 6.0 boost... I just wondering if with my crawford plenum will be to much CFM on the chamber...
thanks!
thanks!
Hey 03_ppw350z, I have the EXACT same problem your having. I can smell that oil smell as well. I thought the greddy oil return is of bad design as well. After the turbo the oil is not pressureized, so all the oil in the upper oil pan has to be pushed up by the pressure after the turbo which is little to none. This is why the vortech kit has you tap the upper oil pan so the oil can drain.
I think the smoke your seeing is excess petrol. My Z is doing it as well. It could be because of the MAF and BOV. A maf is not very good at measuring boost. They measure flow by the amount of air that travels over this heated element. The cooler the element gets the more flow you have. Perhaps the air between the throttle body and the MAF is going back through the sensor (getting measured twice and causing a rich mix) as the air escapes through the blow off valve. That's my best guess, mabye I'll fire up the datalogger tonight on the Z and see if the maf voltage jumps after I back off the throttle.
Let's see if we can't get this figured out. Are we the only two people having this problem?

I might be burning oil through one of my spark plug chambers. When I pulled my plugs, one of the chambers was full of oil.
Hopefully the seal aroung the spark plug is tight so it keeps the oil out of the cumbustion chamber.
Guess its already time to change a gasket (or ring) .

I would think that there has to be some pressure in that line. The oil has to go somewhere after it comes in pressurized. If not, the oil would not cool the bearings and they would be toast right away. There has to be some amount of flow for the system to work with any longevity.

1 more thing that i have learned. greddy told me to unplug the hose that goes to the air inlet on the drivers side you know the one that connects to the valve cover well after some runs with it dangling there oil comes out of that hose. could it be that we have to much crank case pressure? maybee a breather would help at teh oil fill point. just some thoughts to add in this gets very annoying to me! the car runs bad *** though i already trapped 115 at 6psi
