Which one:SC or TT????
I am considering going FI.....
Which one do you guys recommend????
Supercharger or Twin Turbo???
I am considering all opinions...but I do like the Vortech SC.
Also,please explain your opinion.
Thanks

I see a lot of great things on both sides. Personally I think I'm going to go turbos and wait until JWT comes out with something. Seems like SC's make great boost down low and turbos tend to make it a bit higher in the band. Either way we are talking about big increases and a lot of money. SC, however, seems to be the least expensive most readily available, and most straight forward.
SC while limited is a great way to give your Z some very strong off the line pull.
Turbos seem to have a LOT of expandability and really will in the long run be the best boost option.

The S/C is cheaper as previously stated and doesn't seem as labor intensive. I'd probably go with a TT because you can increase or decrease boost without having to switch out a pulley like the S/C. As far as which TT kit to go for, I'm going to wait for the kits to come out (also because I don't have enough money right now
). Right now there's the Power Enterprise TT and GReddy TT kits available and Jim Wolf (JWT), APS, Xerd, UR, and Top Secret turbo kits on the way.
Edit: Add SSR Engineering to the TT list, too.

Well, many will argue various points including power curves, heat, and such. The bottom line IMO is money. Really, the turbo has alot of flexibilty and potential, but you pay for that. Money no object, get the turbo, but it depends on your individual goals. Speaking for myself, I still can't see putting another 10K in this car, so an SC is worth thinking about. Of course, if you add headers to the SC, then you are approaching the price of the TT.....

I've always gone with the theory that you TT manuals, and SC automatics, at least if you are going to use the automatic in full auto. The theory is that TT's are RPM dependant (especially high boost ones), while SC's are less so. Since manuals make it far easier to maintain a constantly and consistantly high RPM level, they are ideal for turbos. At the same time, turbos stress the transmission more than SC's usually do (due to the sudden increase in power, as opposed to the smoother power band of the SC). Given the greater potential for tranny failure inherant in torque convertors, SC seems the ideal for autos.
Of course, if the tranny in question is sufficiently over-engineered (like the supra's, BMW M series's, or, apparently, ours), "smoothness" is not that big of an issue.
The other thing is driving style. If you like a smooth pickup and power gain, go SC. If you want to be slammed into the back of your seat (which can be fun, but also can get wearing), go TT.

Just reading through the threads suggest that reliablity is depending on amount of boost you push. From a total parts concept (less parts = more reliability) the Supercharger would be a better reliability bet. Consider, however, all FI is and will be harder on your engine given the amount of boost you push.
Supercharger = cheap, fast, reliable
Turbo = modification intensive, greater gains, greater possibilities
It's all relative... read up on both and decide for yourself.
If done RIGHT and I think both could be reliable with turbos costing more to bring up to spec in general.
