Default Starter meltdown with Greddy TT

Has anyone made a heat shield for the starter on the 350Z with a twin turbo kit? The greddy TT kit put's the turbo housing about 1/4" away from the plastic portion of the starter assembly. Anybody worried about heat damage to the starter??

I havent heard of any issues. Some on this board..I think it is Spaz...has 10,000miles on his Greddy kit. Maybe he could check the condition of the starter. We put head shielding wrap around all of the lines and electrical harness, but not on the physical starter itself.

I lied..we fully wrapped the started housing. I checked it yesterday and it shows no signs of heat damage.

Yeah.....that was what I was worried about. There are a few spots I am adding extra heat shield to protect things not outlined in the kit.

I saw on Greddy's car, that they installed a customer metal head shield to protect the fuel lines on the passenger side. It look like a VERY easy fix....just a simple piece of sheet metal that you could by from Home Depot or something...but looks like it adds a nice second layer of protection over the heat wrap material that is included with the kit. I might do that in the future vs. running new fuel lines.

The picture of the engine from the pass side shows how close the turbo housing is to the motor mount. The starter fits right in under the mount and ends up about 1/4" away from the turbo housing. The starter should really be wrapped if you are going to put big power through those turbo's. I don't see how the plastic casing on the starter will last very long beside that much heat ( about 1/4" away)

Appreciate it model! I'd like to see it IN the car.

I can see here in the photo what they are talking about... I remember having to pull the starter when we were working with the ORIGINAL prototype headers (what a bish).

Any photos of the shield that has been made?

Something we should ask Greddy?

I haven't even looked at this. I will have to because I didn't put no heat shield on it at all. Hope I didn't damage anything.

yup....crawl under your car and wrap it ASAP. It is way to close to the exhaust housing.

I have put 2000 miles on my kit...

Got a quick question guys. I have the APS tt kit. Do you know if I would run into any problems removing the starter to get the transmission out w/o interferring with any of the turbo housing?
