Default Installation on ATI Procharger

Hi,
Looking to get a procharger.

How much will it cost to install? Any good place in Cali that will get the job done right?

What did you guys pay and where?

I have the Technosquare ECU, does it create any problem?

Thanks,
-daniel.

Getting it used. Was originally going to buy some sf-challenges and a procharger popped out for about the same price.

What are your opinions on the procharger? I know they've had a couple of cars blow their engine.

This is a subject that I'm interested in to. This weekend at a Zcub meet in Seattle which was at a specialty Carb. & Fuel Injection shop. They were installing a procharge into a G35SC. Sharp looking. I asked them what it cost to have it done. They said 24 hours labor plus the kit. Their shop time $75ph. I'm now wondering about this vortec.

24 Hours labor is correct but only for me and not a shop. If a shop is going to charge by the hour then it shouldn't be no more than 12-15 hours. I installed the kit in my garage while taking my time and took twenty hours. The install is really easy and takes no special tools only patience. Kit works great so far with 3000 miles on it!

Where did you get the install procedure? What did you do about the FMU? Did you install it yourself? I have the TS ECU will it cause a problem?

Any help on saving 1200+ will definetely help.

Thanks.

Vortech cost $1,200.00 for install..........either kit is good if tuned correctly, I think the Vortech kit may be a tad safer out of the box than a procharger and after being tuned may be safer just due to Vortech addressing timing. Procharger with the right additional stuff such as timing boxes (J&S) is a good unit.

Someone ask why you would choose the procharger over the vortech.Would the procharger be the obvious since it self-contained?Im trying to make up my mind on the Vortech or the Procharger. So any help would nice.

You may want to get the Technosquare ECU flash for forced induction.

If you alreay have the Technosquare ECU, then I would completely eliminate the DFMU (since it cannot retard timing) and instead have the Procharger installed and use the higher flow injectors (forget exactly what flow, but TS would know) with the TS ECU to control both fuel flow and timing retard.

You may want to call TS and discuss this with them, since they have already tuned a couple ATI S/C Z's so the owners could have timing control and eliminate the DFMU.

You may also try to PM 12secZ since he has the TS ECU controlling his Procharger (also search for past posts regarding this topic).

And as for ATI Vs. Vortec:
My preference is ATI "tuner kit" w/TS ECU or Vortec out of the box. I wouldn't run ATI with DFMU since it doesn't have timing retard, and then you'd have to by the J&S Safeguard additionally. That is a good solution, but more complicated than I'd like.

I definitely like the self-contained nature of the Procharger.

Doh's posts are always so insightful and accurate while being non biased and polite. I think he is one of this sections best members, I hope one day I could buy him lunch. Life is short.

And on that note I need lots of sleep. Good post to end the night on.

Hehe, thanks 12secZ!

Although, now that I've seen your video, maybe I should buy the lunch in exchange for a ride (and maybe I can hold the camera ).

Later,

works for me I love Santa Cruz we can eat there.

To the OP,

Ati tuner kit done right is a great and proven solution that may be less involved on the instalation side.
