Default stillen stage 2 dyno with working intercooler

Not as high as I thought. It's running pretty lean too. Stillen says its because of my hollowed out cats, and that it should make more if I put the stock ones back on, or at least make the a/f look a lot better. They are coming out with a new black box for hollow pipes soon which is one way I can go, and I am talking with technosquare to see if they can give me some fuel enrichment without changing the timing. The torque curve is awesome though, 270ftlbs @ 1700 rpm!

Nice torque @ low RPMs.

That is pretty lean, are you going to TS re-flash?

Nice, looks just like a stock Z's A/F.

How's all that neck snapping low-end torque feel?

This may be true, but throw in the couple hundred degree increase in combustion temps that he has now and it's a recipe for disaster.

way too lean for pump gas and stock ignition timing.

please find a way to richen that up, your motor will not last long like that.

once your over 2-3 psi you want to have a mid 11's air fuel ratio for pump gas. find a way to get some timing taken out if your still running stock.

It takes times to get things perfect. I'm working on it now. Danny at Technosquare is consulting with his programmer and Stillen is working on a solution now also, not sure which way I am going to go. I am inclined to put the stock cats back on, retest and see if it richens up like stillen says. If it does, I may go stillen, otherwise I'll let technosquare work their magic. Need to say what TS says first, I may go with them anyway. I just don't want different programs fighting against each other, and don't like tuning via fedex.

I really like the torque and I hope the A/F gets worked out. Do you have any pics of the hood (from outside and inside)? Thanks.

action shot:
everyone who has seen it seems to like it, even when I've listened to their comments from afar, but I think I will prefer the full hood painted body color. I don't like the add-on look, and my wife doesn't care for cf (I'm ambivalent towards it myself)

I didn't have the template, since I bought the kit from m3powerrr after he installed it, so I made my own guidelines for cutting. If the hoodscoop hadn't previously been siliconed on and didn't have some crazing on the corners from removing, I would probably be happy with it.

I met 2003Z and his nephew (who's got a great-looking DB also) at VIR last weekend (sorry I forgot your names!), this car looks great in person and sounds awesome blasting down the front straight on the South Course, hassling C5s. The whine of the SC is actually louder than the Borla, but in a cool way. You should get my Topspeed Pro-1, that would sound proper coming out of Oaktree corner hard on the gas in 2nd.

Good luck with the tuning!

Jeffrey

Can you get a picture of this "black box" or any names/numbers off it? Is this what's controlling the 7th injector?

If so, find out what injector it is and throw in a bigger one. It's probably something super common/inexpensive, since they could use whatever they wanted.

Is the 7th injector visible? Can you see what brand it is?

LOL, Joseph isn't my nephew, just a fellow Z-club member and friend. At the first track event we went to together, when he had a silverstone also, people thought he was my son, and it was great that we had 2 Zs! My wife and I call him our son though, just cause lots of people assume it at dfferent track events! (his girlfriend looks more like she would be our daughter than he does our son, but we will never know, because they are the only children we will ever have, but I digress)

Ha ha! My bad!

Yeah, my wife and I have been married almost 8 years and managed to hold off on kids still, but we're not getting any younger. Then I look at what the costs of children are in the long run, and I see Ferraris and lots of other shallow toys, terrible, but true!

Hey welcome to FI man and congrats. I would lean towards tuning and not the cats. Easy to try but I wouldn't keep doing dyno's like that and can't see the cats beng the issue, it's tuning.

after talking with the head technician at Stillen today (They contacted me after reading this, talk about great service), I am going back to stock cats. The O2 bung is being welded in today, and I will install after my week long cruise we are going to on sunday.

Here is the deal. With test pipes, Stillen is seeing a 1/2lb loss of boost and 15 or so less hp. With their setup, a freer flowing exhaust allows for a pressure loss of 1/2lb of boost. Their add-on computer uses boost to know how much fuel to add. My car is lean because its not seeing the amount of boost it should, and once I go to stock cats it should all be fixed.

They are working on a new box and pullies for headers and race pipes, but it will be a while.
