Traction isn't really a problem, just need to get the right tires (drag slicks for drag and race rubber for the track) and/or learn to feather the throttle. ITs great to not have to downshift from 6th to pass someone on a 2 lane road. With the stillen, the car really does behave just like stock, just with a lot more oomph.

also, after 30 minutes on the racetrack, no heat problems at all, and the intake felt no hotter than non supercharged to me.

Thanks 2003z for the heat response...those are the kind of points that are important to know about. On that note, does it make any difference to have the stock air box vs. the JWT popcharger??

I believe stillen recommends the stock airbox due to an open filter getting very noisy. Dont know about performance wise though.

the magazine also states that the stillen SC never showed signs of detonation whereas the other two did suffer from it.

fairly important tidbit of info imo

I was wondering if I could maybe get some 0-60 times and some 1/4 mile times from you. Also, just wondering if those dyno numbers are based on a stock engine without exhaust, headers, etc. What is the max psi??

The heat produced by roots type S/C should be no worse than anything else. The heat is cause by compressing air. Therefore more boost more heat. You want hot run a 18 PSI F/I system. The Vortech on my Firebird would melt anything plastic on the way to the after-cooler. Found that one out the hard way. For max out put I would spray No2 into the cooler.....good for A TON of power. Of couse there was nearly over 6 liters of motor to make the power though.

we have been running the stillen s/c on our first project z for awhile now. the unit appears to be very reliable and even with a custom built pulley the stillen box adjusted the a/f to a safe level. for the occasional trackday/everyday driver i believe this unit is one of the best available. however if hp/tq is your goal the only way to go imho is a twin turbo setup.-jason

You can see from this that if you are looking for everyday driving performance in normal RPM ranges - which system provides the best performance. If you are drag racing with gears that allow you to operate at very high rpms, or like the peak gains, then the other units will be of interest to you. They each have their merits.

Vortec:.......344.8 hp @ 6300 rpm 298.7 ft/lbs @ 5900 rpm

Also, please remember that while these results are posted, each vehicle will vary to a certain extent due to OE manufacturer differences, dynos and production tolerances. These run with Carl Merrit of Sport Z Magazine driving each car on the dyno. Same day.

Hope this helps decipher the gains for these systems. The question is where do you want to experience the gains.
While Im sure this post comes in pro stillen, the thread came off to me as being non biased , The chart tells it all, if you want top end the vortech or ati is not the way, I like real world driving , I know ALL these system including TT have will have their issues, I think this one of the more honest threads, and while Im still leaning toward VT myself, thanks for the post, I may still consider the stillen.......and while not to jack the thread will the stillen void my 75k extended warranty?

Default Stillen Unit-Polished

Does anyone have any good pics of the polished unit?

For my money, this is the unit to go with. What was graciously unsaid in the original post is that the Stillen unit is the only one out there that hasn't been blowing motors left and right. Add the fact that you can get a warranty into the equation and you have a clear winner.

Anyone spraying with a Stillen set-up?

Default Stillen Stage 3 Supercharger

Thanks for posting those statistics.

I have the Stillen supercharger Stage 3 installed, and made 403 FWHP and 350.5 RWHP on my 2003 350Z. Met and spoke to Kyle Millen (Steve Millen's son), and was informed that their SC products are mean to work with Nissan stock internals...which was a relief as I didn't want to overhaul the engine internals just yet.

I have to admit, I don't abuse the car much, roads too crowded when I am on them. Which is also the reason I opted for the Stillen SC, because I want the quick boost off the line. Plus, it's my daily driven car so I can't really spend a lot of time at tune shops and tweaking it.

I don't know why others are getting lower numbers I just do regular oil changes at 3-5K and add in BG oil/fuel additives.

I commend you for bumping 9 year old thread. The OP's last activity was back in May of '04. Anyways, good job on the power, but my opinion is lose the wheels and maybe the wing...

Approaching a 9 year bump.

Is that a record?

The wing, wheels, hood, side skirts... tail lights... front bumper...
All bleh.

Sell that kit and get a vortech, and get a regular hood, amuse front and nismo sides. Ditch the wing get a evo-r rear wing and pick up some enkies or volks or even rotas.

Nobody gives two Fawks about the Stillen kit.

With all the options in this market, any owner of a Stillen kit gets the respect of a bukkake ***** with 10 loads on her face.
