It sound like you spun a bearing. What is the oil pressure reading?

I had had the same sound and feel in the clutch before retarding timing. Detonation was the verdict. I have since taken some timing out and it went away. Then my pump started to run lean at the top and that same noise was back. I am sure that your noise was detonation but as long as you backed off immediatly it should be OK.
MIKE

Edit: Stock pump was going lean not the walbro.

yes...stock pump will go lean on many cars....based on other commentary from other Greddy TT users.....the stock pump in my opinion is totally inadequate on some cars...even at 5-6psi. It's strange how every car is slightly different. During my testing I went to 7psi at 6300rpm and hit 12.5:1....then I stopped. That was the limit on my car...even with maximum enrichment with the eManage....the injectors are maxed out at 5500rpm due to the drop in fuel pressure. Ingnition retarding kept the engine from pinging at 12.5:1

If you have a constant tapping and you can feel it at idle.....felt through the clutch pedal it has to be something in the driveline like a rod/crank problem or a clutch/flywheel problem. You wouldn't feel it through the clutch pedal if it was a cylinder head problem. I agree with Spaz...possibly a rod problem. How many miles on the motor???

I installed the greddy turbo kit, go out to test it. Iam in secound gear, run awsome then shift into third gear abd suddenly I hear this taping sound, that go's with the engine RPM's. I stop and there is no signs of engibe damage( no smoke from exhaust, nothing starnge in the oil, the car revs nice, for the exeption of this tap sound that go's up and down with the revs. IT's very loud and it's coming from the engine! has anyone have something like this??? possible damage? That is what concerns me....with 4000 miles the bearing tolerances may still be a little tight .....a spun bearing is more common on a newer engine lower Oil pressure will give a clue but only slightly if it is just a single spun main. Dump the oil ASAP to diagnose.
