Most affordable turbo/supercharger?
i'm looking for a turbo/supercharger kit, on a budget, i've searched around and have found ridiculously expensive stuff, and i'm not too sure on the low end price range, and i dont wanna make a fool out of myself, but i was wondering if anyone can give me a decent/reliable company, thank you

Stillen Stage 1 kit is upgradable, and inexpensive. As you aquire more funds, you can upgrade to an intercooler and later, a better pulley.
Standalone its about 3k+install, the least expensive one on the market.

You might consider the Vortech Supercharger. A few on this site have undertaken it as a DIY project. Perform a search using Vortech. Did some Vortech price comparisons. Finally got it from Avalon Racing, a my350Z.com sponsor for $4330 shipped. It is a complete kit, less gauges. I will also be sending my ECU to Technosquare for reflash. The rev limiter must be raised to 7200 for a 5AT to work properly in the "auto" mode at WOT.

turbo-maxima,
I agree. Have you found this from experience with your turbo'd maxima?
A buddy of mine has the Stillen Supercharger kit on his '01 Maxima which is absolutely smokin'....it pulls like crazy once you get moving.
I can't imagine what it would be like on a Z.

no matter which kit you get there are other hidden costs associated, you may need a fuel pump, injectors, retuning, gauges, turbo timer, blowoff valve, and other misc stuff, if you are worried about cost do not get a fi kit
btw, the car is 5at, i found a stillen one for $3700, its a kit, and it has one made for 5at, and has 350hp @6000rpm, and 322lb/tq @4200, seems pretty decent, but is there anything cheaper, or is that as cheap as it gets?
stillen stage one is 3700, stage 2 upgrade is like 1500, stage 3 is another few hundred. power outputs st1-315,290 st2 325,300 st3 335,300. i dont think i have ever seen them hit numbers near 350, 322 on that kit

greddy kit may be the cheapest, but.....and a BIG BUT...
...is ALL the extra costs that come involved in getting it in the car and running. Most mechanically inclinded people can install the Stillen SC and it requires nothing else. Even the ATI can be installed by weekend mechanics. Other than that, most of the other kits on the market have to be installed by a shop. Thats $1k easy. As a matter of fact, I was interested in the greddy kit a few month ago. I went to Jotech in Dallas(garland,TX) - here is their final estimate. This includes tuning, clutch, fuel system, and all kinds of other little things here and there
forced induction on a car like the Z is always going to cost serious cash no matter which kit you get. most of the guys on this thread are right. the majority of the cost involved (especially when you get a shop to do it) are the hidden things that are necessary to get the system to work right. no upstanding shop owner is going to do things half a$$ or he'd rather just not do it at all. If I were you, I'd be more concerned about which kit is the best and not which kit is the cheapest. even though i'm a newb to this platform and this car, i've had 3 boosted cars. you DO NOT want to short change yourself. you will learn to regret that and your car has a high likelihood of costing more to fix once something has blown up as compared to having it done right the first time.
anybody telling you that a shop job is going to cost less than six or seven thousand dollars is out of their mind. just from what i've observed, alot of guys who drive their Z daily have prefered the ATI procharger kit because it is self contained and has less maintenance issues involved. sorry for rambling.

If you really want to go cheap try a junkyard. You can try to pull one from a saab or any other car with a turbo. Keep in mind you will have to know how to install and tweak it. Not to mention LOTS of time.
there is no such thing as forced induction on a budget. (if you want to do it right)
As you can see by my sig, I have the Vortech kit and I believe for the money, it is the best buy for power and quality. In the same price range, you can probably also look at the ATI Procharger kit but I'll take the Vortech/Split Second box combo over the FMU in the Procharger everyday of the week.
The Greddy TT was actually my first choice, but the price was higher than I was willing to jump when it was time to upgrade. You pay more, but the quality is as good or better than the Vortech SC and there is more power potential.
Bottomline, don't skimp on the budget for FI. You get what you pay for and if you spend wisely you'll wind up being much happier with your car when you're done.
Use the search mode guys, there is a lot of posts on this so we dont have to write the same things over and over again. If you are too lazy to do that, you should not get FI anyways.
