Greddy A/F Gauge
Anyone have any info on the Greddy A/F Warning Gauge 60mm? Did a search and nada. I'm thinking about using this gauge because it looks like it can display really rich afr and it has warning lights. Ive debating either this or the AEM unit.
its not wideband...it's worthless for tuning or just about anything else. Get the AEM if you want guage style.....or there are several other brands if you dont need a guage style unit.

ive got one, just got it in the mail yesterday so i havent hooked it up yet, it is not a wideband, but it does come with its own 02 sensor, greddy says its pretty accurate, plus it does have peak/ warn features, plus i wont be using it to tune, thats what the dyno is for, i just want it to watch my numbers, so ill enjoy the extra 200 i saved instead of buying the AEM, and it has an output that can be hooked up to another light OR and audible alarm which i might do so i wont have to be staring at the gauge. and be serious, how many people will use the AEM to tune, i doubt many, most will use it just like i will use my greddy, especially since youre going vortech instead of TT.
oh yeah, and the AEM doesnt match squat, so for looks the AEM pretty much sucks. unless you like big gaudy numbers and the pretty lights, but if lights are all you want, get the autometer, hehe.

tig...I think you are mistaken. The AEM comes in at least 5..maybe 6 different bezel and face color combincations. It will match anything. I agree that little lights around the outside are pretty useless...but they arent that bright...and only one led lights up at a time. But the digital center portion is wonderful.
there are lots of people that wanna do roadtesting with a wideband in the car. Yes..the Greddy comes with an O2 sensor.....a narrowband sensor...just like the ones the OEM use. They are only accurate right around Stoich. once you go slightly richer, they are 100% not capable of measuring that area. They just tell you that you are rich or lean. welll...13:1 on F/I is very lean....but your non-wideband will tell you rich.

gq....i understand and you are correct, they do come in different colors, i meant that they dont match any other gauges, i myself like the gauges to match or at least come close, the AEM matches no other brand of gauges, thats just a personal preference.no biggie. plus the digital gauges dont do it for me, i like analogs better, i dislike the numbers.
dont get me wrong, the AEM is a good gauge, but for me the price isnt worth it, the cheapest i found new was 425, no thanks, after proper tuning on the dyno, i am confident in the greddys performance, plus i can calibrate the greddy gauge with a high band at my dyno shop, i can compare the two and adjust mine to measure similar to theirs, also my fuel map is conservative, im never above 12, it stays between 11.5 an 12,
but no the greddy sensor is not like the factory OEM sensor
from greddy.....
The main differentiating factor is the GReddy kit comes with it's own higher band oxygen sensor which is rated at 1,500 hours on unleaded fuel. The GReddy kit also uses a more robust and more accurate voltmeter circuit. Combined you have a good product for under $300. The real results will come forth when people begin to use this device, especially those of us who will put together a tabulated data base comparing this unit with a high band sensor.

I guess we'll agree to disagree on the cosmetic issues with the AEM. But one last point...if you are looking at A/F ratios.....the ONLY correct way to look at it is digitally. I know it doesnt match other "sweeping hand gauges"...but it's the only way to really know your A/F....you have to see the digital numerals. A needle guage wont cut it.
Yeah, the AEM is pricey, $425 is a good street price. But it's the first guage style wideband to hit the market...and I think that's why its been so popular.

so tig...still trying to decide. How accurate is the greddy at rich afr's? Thats really where I need it most since I hear the Vortech is around 11 and even dips in the 10's out of the box. Also, the warning light. Does it go off all the time when you are not at WOT?
FJO also has a wideband gauge type. It looks similar to the AEM unit though. Haven't really looked into the FJO unit as I have the AEM.

yeah, the AEM only displays 11-17 AF ratio. Any richer than 11...and you get a dashed display. 350Now and I...and a couple other TT guys are hooking up the AEM to the Profec. So it will will display the full range of AF's....9.5-19.5 Since ideal AF ratio is 11.5-12.0...you should be tuning your car to that level anyways.

It is accurate to between 11 and 11.5. It is not recommended by GReddy to use for tuning however, unless it is compared to a known calibrated wide band system (i.e. at the dyno) to make sure it is tracking correctly. Also, it is most accurate at WOT.
Correction, GReddy was to market with a gauge style A/F ratio before AEM.
If you are really worried about accuracy, then you are using two sensors (one for each bank), correct? Then are you using two gauges??
