Unhappy Kinetix cats have both split!

Have had the cats on the car for nearly 2 weeks now. Noticed that their was a rasping sound coming from under the car, thought it might be a heatshield. Put the car up on the ramps today and found that both cats have split right next to where the support bracket is for the brace.
Car sounds horrible!
Trying to get in touch with Kinetix about it.

Damn!

I was thinking the same thing about the RT Cat design. When you hook up that brace piece, you have to really stretch the arm to get the bolt to line up. It just seems like its putting a ton of stress on the arm..and might be prone to breaking. I havent heard of this actually happenig though. Can you post a pic for us?

Here is a picture of each cat individually.
Glad I had my camera with me, when I had the car in the shop!

If they have split once, I'm wondering if they would do it again.
Tempted to get the resonated straight pipes. Wonder what kind of gain I'd get on my Supercharged car. GQ???? what do you think?

I installed a set of resonated cats on a friends na and I was not impressed with fit and finish. We left the brace off due to the extra stress.

Wonder if this would apply to S/C as well as turbo's?

Anyway, Kinetix are kindly sending me a set of resonated straight pipes in exchange for my cats.
How loud do you find your car on cruise, Rob???
Mine is quiet when cruising but nice and loud when you get on it.

I had to grind the hole bigger on the rt cats not to put any stress on the support brace. Then again I also heated up the cat on the drivers side to make it line up with the exhaust. Can't really say wether it was the turbo kit, cats, or exhaust that ddn't want to line up, but it was the cats that i heated up to bend everything so there was no stress. I guess that what you have to do when there is no flex section.

FYI - I did not connect the tabs to the center bracket either because the holes were not even close to lining up.

The car is alot louder with the pipes w/resonators but it really sounds good. It is nowhere near a raspy sound but more of a very loud, rumbly growl just off idle and it gets louder the higher the RPM. I think that you will like it. At idle it is as quite as stock.

Guess I wont be connecting the bracket up on the new pipes. Funny because they lined up perfect on the cats.
