Default A better idea

Ok, I think that JWT needs to design a better OIL DIP STICK!

God only knows how much oil you have when you try to read the stock stick.

ehhh... Won't the fill point be the same? You are adding capacity, so you will still fill it to the same point on the dipstick... I see no reason for a longer dipstick.

edit: nvm... misread the post. You are saying the stock dipstick is hard to read. MY BAD!

Yeah, the stock 350Z (and possibly the G35??) dipstick is a POS!! You insert it and pull it out and there is oil all the way up to the handle. The design is horrible. How about just a long thin piece of say solid .20 gauge wire?? None of the stupid bends and twists. The only way to accurrately tell how much oil you have is to drail it out and measure it.

Stock dipstick

Default dipstick

Well at least the extra qt of oil that the pan extender offers will CYA longer if your sucking more oil than expected.

I may have missed something here, but for those with a Vortech SC and this JWT oil pan spacer... do you have to tap the hole in a different location than what is suggested for a N/A or TT car?

What is the cost to 350Z members on the spacer? Also how much are you charging for installation?

Default spacer and oil return

a)If your car is NA and you use this pan extension, there is "no oil tap", it just drops the pan lower and adds an extra qt. of capacity.

b) If you already have installed a Vortech , then again there is "no oil tap" in this adapter, since the oil return was accomplished by drilling and tapping the upper oil pan assembly.

c) If you want to use this pan extension in addition to a new Vortech install, it is possible to drill and tap this adapter , so that ypu can avoid drilling and tapping the upper pan assembly. However; some form of "J-pipe" will be needed inside the pan adapter to guarantee that the drain level is above the oil fill level.

d) If JWT can be compelled to sell the TT specific adapter independently , then it should already have two drain ports , one for each Turbo. So the passenger side tap would be plugged and the driver side could be used as a Vortech drain.

Hope this helps..

You guys at Performance are excellent. I didn't want to feel left out so I ordered one.

I was reading about Chebasto's car and the measurments taken with his upgraded oil pan and there was a huge difference. I would expect similar results with the spacer. I will post my review next week.
