Default Did you car's handling get worse after FI ?

I'm trying to figure out if it's just me, but I know that the power steering reservoir had to be relocated, and the plumbing had to be somewhat changed after my Greddy kit was put in.

I noticed the handling on my car is a bit looser now, not as sharp as it used to be. Of course this could have nothing to do with FI and everything with my tire pressure... but I've only inflated them once after my FI install.. they're at about 35-40psi on 19" rims.

Anyone else notice sloppier steering after their install ?

The turbo kit adds, by my estimate, about 75-100 pounds to the front of the car...maybe more...maybe less. If you remove cats, etc..you drop weight...and the stock exhuast and stuff.

But that could explain why your car feels a bit less precise. personally, I havent noticed any difference in cornering capability.

And my steering feels exactly the same.

GQ, yeah I think it might be my tires... problem is, if I keep them at 35psi I risk getting potholed and denting my rims (as has happened before)... but I think my handling will improve. I'll give it a shot.

35 psi?!?!?!

Is this a hot temp or cool? If that's your hot temp it is WAYYYYY too low.

Get it up!!!

You're just going faster so it seems that the turns are sharper

Buckle up and get your tire pressure set right and go!

I have a Track Z and my Father has a roadster with 17's...I can feel no difference with either tire except going around corners...Oh and the 18's with high presure of course don't drag well.

Only thing I can think of is...if one of hoses are pinched? Does the steering wheel feel funny to you when you turn? Like does it seem to have power steering and then suddenly don't and keep going back in forth like that? It might be the unit itself....Need more data.

ZLife, no I don't get any of those on-and-off kinda things you're talking about. The steering does feel a little softer, but that has happened to me before when I increased tire pressure.

35 is not too low... when I start going over 40, it gets ridiculously sloppy, I can't live with it.

Do you have adjustable sways?? Anyway they might have been set to a softer setting after the TT install??

No I don't have any suspension mods as of yet =) I'm almost 90% sure this has to do with tire pressure.

My steering is exactly the same, however because I've added probably close to 80 pounds sticking out in front of the front tires, my handling has definitely suffered.

Jesse (will take 140+ HP over handling any day of the week)

mine handles the same, and I run 44psi cold in my 19s for the crisper feel and longer tire life.

On Off changes may well be Heat.... The car with the wieght up front.. Full Tank of Gas -
I drove the Wld350Z ( Tony and GQ - have same set-up )

Hotchkis Sways and Greedy TT

My feeling was Tony's need more fuel to bring the *** end around at 45 to 50 MPH.. But it is running Greddy TT Stock boost
with a stock fuel pump..

But - I did notice a tendency in a straight line roll at 50 when you just hit the pedel in third the car's rear seems to do like the old 300ZX did to turn a bit as you apply power.. But with the Drive by wire throttle. The link up can be feathered easily..

Translation:

I got on the throttle too hard at a low speed ( 50 ) and when it started to get out of shape,
I backed off on the throttle,
and it seemed to come back in line - without looking totally stupid.

Yes there is a lot of power, and Wld350z has 19's and Toyo's..

This should teach Tony not to give me the Keys to the Car without him in it. Ha!

Cheers Amy -

More to buy - Profec-01 and a Walbro 255.. I would not push a car lean... Honest...
