Default E-01 warning settings

This was discussed on a previous thread, concerning setting of the warning LED and tone when the A/F reached a certain level (ie. > 12.5).

The problem was that A/F is higher than that at idle and cruise, so the alarm would be going off constantly. A 2-axis formula would be great but we didn't think the E-01 could do that (we were wrong).

I wired an external LED to the yellow option wire, and planned to have it on alarm so it would stay on and then go off under boost (A/F drops below 12), if the LED came on under boost, I would know that the A/F had risen above 12.

When I went to setup the E-01, I found something better, an alarm based on 2 variables.

In SETTINGS -> WARNING, I set the boost at 0.0 (limiter off for now) and selected the 1st analog channel (Wideband O2) with the AND modifier.

Next in SETTINGS -> ANALOG INPUT, I set the WARNING at 12 and LOCATED as exceeds.

Now, the E-01 will sound a tone and the LED will light when I'm under positive boost and the A/F goes higher than 12. At idle and cruise, the alarm will not go off.

Right now I get a little chirp as the A/F drops and the boost is coming up, so I might raise the A/F warning to 12.5. My external LED is not working so I'll have to figure that one out later.

This is all pretty straight forward if you read the manual, but who does that?

Hope this help.

PS. The Walbro 255 is in and the A/F curve looks much better at high RPMs

But with this method, you can only have one alarm. So for instance, right now, I have a boost alarm, so if I boost more than 9.5psi, my alarm will go off. But...i think...with this setup, I would have to give up this feature, since you'd have to set the boost alarm setting to 0psi. Or did I miss something here?

You're right if you're monitoring A/F, because sometimes its good (14 at cruise) and sometimes its bad (14 under boost). You need the second axis (boost in this case) to differentiate. But you could change the modifier to OR and run two alarms, ie boost over 9.5 OR fuel pressure under 50psi...

The limiter feature is really nice too.

I thought your gauge had a warning?? Would be nice so that you dont have to use the E01...
