VDC Error....
Installed a greddy TT kit on to a track edition 350Z. Everything is good except the VDC is malfunctioning. Bascially when the steering wheel is turned left full lock, the VDC slip light comes on and stay on until the engine shuts off and restart. VDC is automatically disabled by the ecu with the slip light stayed on.
Anyone have experienced this problem and need some suggestions.

Hey Steve, how is it going ?! Long time no talk
Steve (from evolutionautosports) and I (along with Dan from Godspeed) were the very first ones to install the GReddy TT on the 350z.
Steve (and Dan) were a great help with me on the phone.
Whats this Steve, you installed another GReddy kit on a z ?
WoW, someone who has installed 2 kits!
He must of been an extra special customer, to get you guys to agree to install another one
Gonna have Jeff get your head examined!

Hehe, actually this is our fifth Greddy TT on the Z and working as of now on a G35 6 speed. Still did way more vortech than Greddy TT thou.
Anyway, no, the steering is aligned but I found a section on the service manual that reads when ever remove a steering component on a Z equipped with VDC, the car must use concept 2 ( sp?) system to readjust the steering sensor to neutral. Even if the steering is perfectly aligned, it might still triggered the sensor.

Evo, Consult II..
During the install, you disconnect the battery. So if you use a blade to mark the column, and put it back exactly where is was...you wont trigger that light. If it's off even a 1/4 inch...you might get the light when you turn the wheel away from center....under certain driving conditions.
So how did you resolve? Did you take it to the dealer for a Consult II diagnostic?

I forgot if the battery were disconnected before the steering column removal or was it afterward but the light is on so obviously the steering sensor is not in neutral position. I am almost 100% sure the steering if dead on but the VDC light is already triggered and i'm going to assume only a consult II can readjust and erase the code.
Now if just if the steering is in fact couple click off and I adjust it back to the correct order, will the VDC problem go away? Bascially will the ECU store this code and only consult II can fix it.

Evo, have you driven the car? If the wheel is straight...then I would just have you customer (or you) goto a mod friendly dealer and have it reset. Hopefully its an easy fix. Out of curiousity, is your CEL light on as well? Can you try using a generic OBDII scanner to clear the code? This will only work if you have a CEL too.
Good Luck....
Another thing that might work is a full ECU reset (remove power for 24hours, or do the "pedal tango" procedure listed on technosquares website.
let us know what happens...

Yes, the CEL was on so I used a Mac Tool OBD II scanner to clear the code. However it cannot detect anything Nissan VDC. So I figured even with a full ECU reset or use the pedal way of resetting wouldn't clear the VDC problem. I will contact local Nissan dealership to use their consult II and see if it goes away.
Also, I drove the car around and the car and steering wheel is straight as an arrow. If I turn right till full lock, the Slip light won't come on. But if I turn left close to full lock, the slip light comes on immediately.

The only way to fix that is with a Consult II. I dod not have the problem with initial turbo install, but SKiDaZZLe did. Once I had my clutch replaced I had the issue. Nissan fixed it, but charged me $160. What a rip off!
The only thing that was nice was VDC was off all the time. No more false starts with the TT!

My VDC light has always been off since I changed out my cluster and battery. Nothing else has been done yet. Still can't figure out why my VDC won't even turn on. I took it to the Infiniti dealership and they didn't know either. Anyone???
