Best build up order for a TT car?
What I want to accomplish with this thread is to find a "3-5 phase" process on how to build a TT Z right. The end results I am looking for are 400-450rwhp,wheels/tires, suspension, body kit, and ICE. The TT being the most important of course but i want a very well rounded Z as well. I guess what want is how should I break this up cost wise because I am on a budget per month type thing. Oh and anything you guys want to add I am willing to hear it. Reliablity is a issue here as well as this is my DD.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Zlife, i'm gonna jump on board with you on this, if you don't mind. it's something i've been putting more and more thought into lately. i'm past what i like to think of as "stage 1". (exhaust, intake, rims, grounding kit, misc. low-end goodies). now i'm starting to decipher a logical order to do the more complex stuff. i'm about to dive into my "F/I piggybank" and get a pioneer AVIC-N1 head unit. like you said, i want a rounded Z too. then i'm going to look at a lip and new spoiler, maybe even a new paint job. that will keep me busy for now, but sooner or later i'm going to start having to tackle the big issues:
-what kind of F/I?
-Forged internals (yes/no and when)?
-Torque converter (i've got a 5AT)
-headers (dependant on F/I)
-Plenum (again, dependant on F/I)
-NOS
-ECU flash
These are some of the things on my mind. obviously, the actual F/I would be best put in last. but i'm wondering if some of the mods have to wait until after. how will the car run N/A with a hi-stall torque converter? with forged internals? what kind of CR should i aim for? and what if, after all this, i end up going with the stroker kit as well? i'm on a budget too, so we're talking about a timetable of years here. but i'd still like to avoid spending money on stuff i'm going to take off later, or paying for extra labor to get work undone. maybe some of you F/I ninjas could pipe in with the order you did your work in, and how you'd do things differently after the experience. thanks in advance.

build the motor after the tt kit if you even need to build it for 450-500whp which i personally doubt so long as you have a low boost setting and access to good gas. get the stroker if you want more than 900whp otherwise you dont need it. you ONLY need the torque conv if you plan on dragging/stoplight racing. get the stuff like exh ecu headers plenum after you get the tt kit. why? bc you may be able to get your goals without them, decide what you need after you see what needs to be done. dont waste money.
