Default Rear End problems with FI

Is anyone getting a clicking noise coming from the rear end. I want to say its the half shafts going bad (right side only). I also get a clunk noise when I put it in reverse after a race and it is not the vdc clunk. Any input would be nice. Thanks Spaz

I had that problem along with many others on the forums. It is due to the rear axle becoming loose. When you back up or get on it in first you hear a click.

If it makes the same sound when you come to a stop it is most likely the differential. I had one go in my old LS1.

I've got it also and I keep thinking something is going to break soon. Took it to the strip last Tuesday night and gave it all kinds of hell and it's still together.

Just found a thread under "repairing" (clicking sound) and there seems to be a fix! Ck it out.

So if there is a TSB will it be warranted by nissan? Or was this a cause of having FI and making those axles go bad?

I had the noise right from the time I bought the car. I took it to Nissan on several occasions right away telling them that I had heard the noise was due to the fact that the rear end bolts were not tightened to spec from the factory. To make a long story short, I had the noise prior to FI and after FI. This should be something covered under warranty (considering a TSB was released showing no relation to FI), but that just my guess.

Usually, the noise is best heard when letting off the clutch and starting to move in first gear. Mine is a double click. (click, click)

I bet with FI, Nissan would not honor the TSB, but that is just a guess. They need to honor it, guess we will see.

What would be interesting is to know what rwhp are you guys running who are having issues with the rear end(axles)??

Talk to the local nissan dealership here and told me they will fix it even with the FI on the car.

I have this same exact problem on my G35 coupe. I brought it to the dealership, they said they heard the noise and tightened the rear axles. I still have the problem after picking the car up last week. I'm so pissed. Somebody else on G35driver had the problem and brought it to his dealership. They heard the noise too but told him nothing is wrong with the car. They didn't fix it. This is pissing me off. I hope somebody can figure out what's wrong. Mine can be heard if I drive in 1st gear to like 3-4k rpms and then let it decelerate. Right before I stop I hit the clutch and there's the noise!! Click click in the front is heard while I stop coming up my ramp. When I pull down the curb into the street I hear the click from the rear like something is going to snap.

I recently removed all my interior panels for an audio install and Ive been driving w/o them for weeks. I also hear a "click" coming from the rear as soon as I let the clutch out from a stop. I've also noticed how noisey the whole drivetrain is (tranny, diff, ect...)! Is this normal?

BTW my 1-2 shift is horrible!
