yeah - and he took a lunch break too i am sure. Usually they say it may take 3 days (but still the quoted 15-18 hours). And that is what it will take wit htuning and stuff.

This is what I am talking about - 10 hours for electrical? Give me a
break - e-manage does NOT take 10 hours to install - i am glad i don't have to deal with that. Way overinflated prices (at way overhyped shops maybe)? Like those a-holes at SP-engineering - it takes 30 hours and 3000 dollars to install the Greddy kit they say - and you have to get it from them for ~$7000 (if not more). as they "don't install anything they do not sell themselves". who the f*$% do othey think they are. 40 hours for mechanical?! - now that person got hosed - i am sorry to say - honestly not meaning any disrespect! Some of these shops are like *****!

When you take it to decent people like TS - they tell you how it is. They said it's gonna be a 15-18 hour install. It took about that much - i would say it was closer to 15. And that is one top quality job.

I need to stand corrected on smth - the actuator is in fact set to 4.35 psi (0.3 bar). I was misinformed by Adam PE. Sorry

Default Opps - not clear

gurgen

Sorry - I was not clear.

The Car owner installed it him self - in his home garage..

Out of Pocket Cost = $0

Cheers Amy -

P.S. This electrical time was Turbo Timer - E-Manage and E-01
And programming...

However his car is "Factory" in appearance and doesn't have exposed wires and C**P look about it..

Whats up with that?

Hehe ... that's how Gurgen likes it. He calls it the 'authentic race' look!

J/K!

The shot of the mess in the interior is temporary. Todashi and the guys had it there for monitoring and tuning purpose. I can't wait to check out the car up close and personal myself.

LOL Clint

Yes, Amy, i can't belive you actually thought that was the permanent look!?! It thought it was obviouos. BUt yes, ii can see that if you do it yourself without the substantial resources of a specialized shop, it could take you that long.

Gurgen you are comparing two completely different kits here. You fail to realize that you are lucky that the PE kit appears top notch right out of the box. The GReddy kit however has many fitment issues. Believe me TS quoted me for 16 hours to install the kit but it definitely would take alot longer due to all of the "mechanical" fitment issues. It took XS Engineering 56 hours to install the kit and they are a reputable shop they also quoted me at 16 hours like TS. I went with XS to install my kit because they were going to give me my "industry" discount. Ended up costing me over twice as much as what TS quoted, however, I did have alot of extra work performed: polishing, gauges, Profec, turbo timer. I agree with you that some of these shops "hose" their customers. I can say that I got "hosed" by XS but at least they did the job right and conservative enough where I don't have to worry about blowing my engine right after the install.

BTW nice meeting you at Oiwake's last Sat.

dj

good to hear from you. I didn't know that greddy has fitment issues - but from the install times quoted - i am not surprized. There was only 1 issue with this kit - one of the intake pipes had to be bent just a little bit to provide more clearance than was given (but hte clearance was there originally). That's pretty good, considering the kit was not even tested on this car - only on the g coupe

So how is it running...I heard it is strong, but some issues with the 5AT? Did you get those sorted? Any preliminary dyno or g-tech runs?

I wanna see the car before I leave! I only have one more day with my car...and 5 more days in CA??!!! Call me!

Hey Sharif,

Funny thing, I almost called you today to meet for lunch or something, but something came up. I'd love to see/ride in your car to get an opinion myself.

I am still sorting out the issues here. The car runs VERY VERY well, considering... I can't help but wonder how well it would run with the stock TC! Others have told me that the RT cats maybe bad, even if they are not showing signs at first glance. Also, the car runs VERY well at night (@ cool temps) and pretty POORLY during the 80-90 degree weather (almost night and day). Well, it still needs some tuning. The a/f is perfect after 4500rpm (11.2-11.5) but very lean south of that mark (~13).

I did do some g-tech runs, another reason I wanted to call you.

Let me know what you think, i remind you that this is running at 4.3 psi of boost, and we took about 4-8 degrees of timing off, just as a safety measure. I am very happy with the results at this point (@ said conditions).

Each of the runs have been done a few times on a few differnt roads, so they are definitely NOT "a fluke". None of them were done with a power-brake launch, just by simply hitting the gas (for consistency).

Best 0-60mph: 4.964 sec (range: 4.964-5.102)
Best 1/4 mile: 13.32 sec @104.5 mph
Best 0-100 mph: 12.42 sec

For reference, here are my best non-power-brake N/A times:
Best 0-60: 6.003 sec
Best 1/4 mile: 14.1 sec @100.x mph (can't remember)
Best 0-100: 13.9 sec

Can't wait to see the results when I turn up boost to 8-9psi. I'll call you tomorrow.

Gurgen

ok cool! Those times look very impressive.....especially at stock boost settings. even your stock times are very strong too! You have a strong version of your car.

call me...my schedule is pretty disguisting today...but I may be able to sneap out tomorrow....albeit...without my car.

I have a lunch meeting and a going away party for work at 4pm. If we did meet today, it would have to be later at night...around 8pm or something...

Gurgen,

Any speculation on why the TC/tranny is slipping? Considering you had a relatively conservative stall speed (2400 right?) this is a bit disconcerting to those looking to mate a TT with a higher stall racing TC.

Also, why did you end up ditching the Crawford plenum? Fitment? Warping?

Gurgen, first of all, thanks for letting me drive your car solo last night!

Guys, I dont know what hesitation or tranny issues Gurgen is talking about......his car is VERY fast...especially for 4.4psi. I also like how the 1st gear is so much taller than the 6MT, so you can really feel the rush of acceleration for a longer period of time between shifts. I took it around the block in downtown Pasadena, I floored it in first gear, and in the blink of an eye, I was at 7000rpm! It honestly feels like a Greddy kit at 6psi...maybe more.

I cant wait to see the dyno runs, becuase by the seat of my pants, my butt dyno is telling me 375hp or more!

'
Nice work..and congratulations on the install!
