Mark,

Look for my call soon. I am most interested in your shops abilities. I am most interested in having a Houston shop that I can count on. I feel a little uncomfortable being 4+ hours away from my home shop.

Non-the-less, I still love Grubbs. There is room in my heart for two shops.

congrats on the numbers! these are the kind of numbers i have been waiting to see from this car!! Its a lot of work, but looks to be worth it in the end

I would be MORE than happy with 550+RWHP for a daily driver.

BTW.. whats the max boost these turbos will push?

kudos can you please tell me if you are running the .20 over Sgp pistons or stock bore pistons also I am very curious as to if you are running the factory sleeves in your block or if the sleeves were replaced by SGP as well. Thanks in advance.

Squill,

He is using .20 over pistons and factory sleeves. The sleeves are very capable of withstanding 800+ Rwhp.

So those Tomei cams work well in that application? Interesting...
I'm still amazed so many people are surprised that the cams available work well with FI applications. These cams (the Tomei 264s) and the cams I have with my Vortech (Nismo w/262 duration) are really not that aggressive.

There is a point of diminishing returns if you expand your duration too much, but mid to high 260s is fine for FI applications. It's easy to see that here by what SGP has done with this car and the fact that my Z is making a good 40-50hp more than other Vortech charged Zs.

Way to go Kudos & SGP! This set up looks awesome!!! Guess I'll need to start looking at some bottom end & injector upgrades myself now.

So basically your saying the VQ35 stock block and sleeves can handle quite a bit of power? Pistons, Rods, Valves, Springs are all that is needed to put a TT into the 14psi range?

It makes me nervous to see this information. Soo many times I am told by Nissan Master Mechanics that the engine cannot take it. What information are they missing?

Thanks Kyle for this information! Its very hard to get info like this as there are only a few cars with built motors that i know of and yours/Kudos is one of 2 that post here.

I wish nissan built the pistons and rods on par with the strength of the rest of the motor

BTW Your Pistons and Head stud kit come highly reccomended here Localy when I was discussing building up the motor with some shops!

Nissan mechanics probably wouden't know as much about this as they are not into the tunneing aspect of the engine. Dealler ships are probably more intersted in you keeping your warrnty and issues like that.

I would trust the advice of a shop like SGP more just becouse of the fact that it is there specific field of expertise.

They are missing all information on building motors for more power over stcok as their primary job is only to repair stock vehicles not build them to produce twice as much power as stock.

I never listen to them about info they have no practical experience with.

Several motor builders have said that the Z's block with stock sleeves should be good for around 800whp or a little more....with a re-sleeved block 1200+whp should be possible. The block is VERY strong. Stock rods and high compression pistons are the weak point as far as FI apps go.

Is the Tranny strong enough to hold this type of power and what about the Diff, just curious as to what upgrades they will have.
