Default Alternative location for GReddy E-01 Display?

My Z came equipped with the Nav. unit and I don't really want to ditch it. The E-01 multi display controller is currently mounted via Velcro in my center console as shown. Workable short term solution, but not happy with it in there. Anyone have any suggestions for an alternative location?

Moderators, please move if this thread needs to be in the interior forum.

Well, my turbo timer is in there, didn't even consider that the E-01 display would fit without modifications. Looks like a switch-a-roo is in order. Would be helpful to know what additional cabling is needed and other modifications, if any. Thanks.

I did't set up mine there, but the owner of the shop he kind of insited to see how it looked It looks sweet. However, the visibility of it is not that great, I have the classic nav. compartment...

Wild350Z fashioned a little metal bracket and mounted it to his dashboard. It sets just left of the main dashboard guages.

Visibilty is key when choosing a mounting location. There are lots of cool features and things to look at on the screen, so try to keep it within eyes view. I know its tough to get a clean install since you have the NAV unit, so a dashboard mount may be your only option. Honestly, I thought it actually looked OK on the dash...tucked into the left corner. The only thing I would be concerd about would be theft...and the lack of discretion...but this damn car gets to much attention...it's hopeless to try and be discrete!

Thanks for all of the input. Having the display angled so that it is clearly viewable by the driver without installing in the NAV position is going to require some custom work. Unless, as gq_626 suggests, it is mounted on the dash.

Had I known prior to purchase of the Z, the car would not have been equipped with a NAV.

Options to date:

Yank the factory NAV...don't know if this is recommended??
Leave it where it is...
Install on dash near instrument cluster...
Install with minor modifications in the sunglass holder
Install with major modifications in the sunglass holder so as to be more viewable by the driver

I wonder if a single DIN "flip out" tray could be farbicated to hold the display??? Just a thought...

Thanks again for all of the suggestions. I'll keep you posted on what I decide.

I'm a patient fellow, and the examples I've seen of your work are outstanding. Well worth the wait. Thanks for the update.

Here is a teaser pic of the prototype Toykilla made. We installed today and he's really done an excellent job. Thanks Josh.

Very nice I love it.... You guys should consider making a mold and start selling it and put me down for one

Az

Side note: Maybe you can tilt it towards the driver for better visibility

ToyKilla did a nice job.. And Az you are right.. This cockpit is small

I could take a photo of the EO-1 in Wld350Z dashboard mount.

It is in a great spot - but is not stealth and requires drilling the dash..

The EO-1 at hard throttle is too distracting anyway.. Tony's reads
unreal numbers for last run - I.E. Double 15,000 RPM for a 6500 RPM shift..

The EO-1 is just to the left of the center...

The AF Wide band AEM on the A pilar is about all I can see on a WOT run... To try to see the spiking of the Greddy TT

Of course the car is going sideway's in second and third.. and the shift points are too fast..

What we need is a superior data logger...

Something to play back in "slow Motion" - " Slow motion for me" Ha!

Cheers Amy -

Toykilla, I would definately be interested in a product to hold the E0-1, b/c I also have the nav and definately dont want to take it out. Hopefully, by the time I'm boosting, you will have these out on the market.

you guys should try putting the screen into the driverside visor. like a visor tv but something actually useful. it looks like it is thin enough to work.
