I don't believe anyone makes a single turbo for the z33. Dual or none sir.

i like singles just bc there is only one turbo, less piping, etc. but twins seem more practical on this engine though they are also more $$. a single can provide better topend power in high boost applications while twins will generally spool faster. its all about matching the right size turbo to your application.

Cool

Blast racing has made a single turbo kit for the VQ motor. I know someone that has one installed on his G35 with a ball bearing turbo. So, it can be done, and it has been done.

I don't understand when he says:Twin ball bearing garrett GT serious (¿)turboes(?). He says turboes. He do?
I don't know if "twin" is refered to the bearing or to twin turbo

The filename refers to the 350z as "350ZTT".. My edumacated guess would be Twin Turbo.

No question it can be done however after analyzing several compressor maps it looks like a single turbo application for our motor will need to be quite large im thinking possible t-70 size.

From what im seeing on the compressor maps of single turbos none will work very well as compared to twins on a stock motor..

This is due to the fact that the VQ needs a good amount of cfm as it is a fairly large motor for a single turbo and in doing so not only do you have to use a very large turbo as a single but doing so sacrifices performance untill you can get that giant turbo spinning.

You also need to find room to mount it somewhere where it will fit (probably over the motor like top secret did) But you have the problem of manifolds and IC plumbing.

A turbo big enough for this motor as a single is best suited for a fully built block and a drag car. The turbos that would work are capabale of 30+ psi boost levels and your hp will be very peaky unlike the TT graphs which are more gradual similar to na dynos.

Im looking into this subject as we speak as well trying to find a smaller single turbo that will still spool fast and produce sufficient cfm for engine demand at low boost levels is proving quite difficult! May require a custom hybrid turbo to really work well however i am still reasearching the subject and will post what i find!
