Default possible single turbo

ok i just would like a explaination to why i hear so many ppl say its impossible to put a single turbo in the z i understand it would have to be very large but, how can we fit a tt system in!? would a single turbo be that much bigger? just wondering

It is a V6. If you just hang one turbo, the 3 cylinders on the side where you hang it are going to see much more back pressure than the other 3. That'd screw up turning something fierce. I don't think you *could* tune it properly.

The alternative would be to hang the single turbo back after the Y pipe. Way back there it would get exhaust gas that's much cooler and moving much more slowly. Incredible turbo lag and a lack of performance would be the result.

not only is it not impossible, but a very reputable manufacturer has one that dynoed today at 384 to the wheels. You will most likely be hearing about it very soon, but suffice it to say it should be a worthy contender, as it's a relatively simple kit.

It absolutely can be done, and has been done...it's all a matter of knowing how to do it.

Man, good news Adam. Let's hope we can hear more about this project soon, as it could turn the whole turbo market upside down, expecially if it is at a good, reasonable price.

it can be done quite easily in fact, its just a matter of getting the manifolds made which are more complex on a single turbo v6 platform. yes it does take a relatively large turbo to supply enough air for the z but dont expect it to lag anymore than the greddy turboes since this one has all 3.5 l pushing it. as long as you build it right you can very good performance out of a single

Hmmmmmmm i dont know ... i agree that it will take a fairly large single turbo to supply the CFM our motor requires however i disagree that the lag would be even with the greddy kit. I dont see how a single turbo large enough to work on the VQ35DE would be as responsive as A twin setup like the greddy at lower boost pressures on a stock motor,

I love the way people keep things a secret. I guess it means more money in Greddy's pocket...
