Default Vortech dyno tune results!!!

Alright, i finally got around to getting my car tuned today. You could say it was not what i expected, but then he told me something that made me say "holy crap, are you serious?" So heres what happened, we get my car on the dyno and it is about 85 degress. He takes a baseline run, and it puts down 337.6 hp and 292.4 tq. Which is alright for out of the box i guess. So im thinkin that after tuning, ill gain maybe about 30-50 extra hp. So he plays around with it and adjusts air/fuel for about an hour or so, then he made some final runs...So my final run results after all the tuning,

345.9 whp and 297.6 tq

I was shocked at how low it was, but its not too bad.
So we go over everything about the air/fuel and stuff. Then he tells me that my max boost was only at 5.6 psi
I was like, what the hell? thats it?
He said yes and that it can handle a hell of a lot more than that...so next week i am going to get a higher boosting pulley and see what happens....

What do you guys think ???

Pulley is not the issue. Out of the box you should run with at least ~7+ psi. If you are only getting 5.6 psi, then that explaines the low hp. Getting a higher boost pulley is not solving the problem. You should be re-checking the install and tuning. Something must have went wrong.

Good luck.

Start checking all your hoses, hose clamps and drive belts. Your drive belt tension should be set so that on the longest lenght of the belt, you can rotate it 90 degrees by hand, but no more. It may also be beneficial to coat the drive belt and pullies in belt dressing.

I would first suspect that belt was slipping. Dyno charts would be helpful as well.

im sure it had enough break in period, cause i drove it around a heck of a lot when i first got it. Anyway, i checked my serpentine belt, and it was so loose that i could actually twist it a full turn on the longest stretch of it with my hand. Well, i tightened the belt so that i could only turn it max 90 degrees, and hopefully now my problem is fixed....

guarantee its belt slippage, UNLESS you havent been tuned, and were measuring on a mustang loaded dyno...

check for abnormal beltdust accumulation too....

we'll getcha up there, dont fret!!

I was dynoed on a dynojet dyno, i want to tune it again but i think ill wait on that until i get a 312 pulley so that i wont have to spend extra money on dyno-ing it just to see if it was belt slippage....ill get the dyno chart up tomorrow...

Checkout this SC installed in my 350Z a couple of weeks ago. Pictures at: http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/350Z.htm
I had them do some mods that improved the looks and performance of the Vortech. Out of the box, it kicked up to 350rwhp @ 6500 rpms and 308 lbs of Torque @ 4800 rpms. I have checked out the posting and have read that some of you are pulling a lot more power. Haven't had it dyno tuned yet as I'm going to change my mufflers. But when I did run it on the dyno, the tech. said the air/fuel ratios were very good and safe.
I'm going to post the dyno results. As soon as I have a friend scan them.
Some of the mods, include headers and straight pipes, no cats. On this same dyno, they had a G35's run after tuning and it put out 339hp & 290t but they ran it up to 7000 rpms. Note I have change the airfilter location, placing it in front of the rad and on top of the intercooler. This permits the use of a larger airfilter.
