Default Single Turbo 350Z

We are in the final testing process of a new single turbo system for the 350Z. we have been testing for past couple of months at various boost settings and injector sizes. We matched a single Ceramic Ball Bearing turbo with a 60-1 compressor utilizing a stage 5 big shaft turbine.
Complete system to include:
-60-1/Stg 5 Ceramic Ball Bearing Turbocharger
-Front mount 3.5"x7.9"x24" Spearco Intercooler
-External Evolution Wastegate
-Raptor By-Pass Valve
-6 new injectors
-fuel/ignition managment
-All stainless turbo mounting and piping from the manifolds to
the turbocharger+downpipe
-All aluminum boost tubing

Other than traction issues drivability has been outstanding, smooth idle and turbo lag in virtually un-noticable.

Looks like we will settle somwhere bewteen 6.5psi (363whp or 435chp) and 8.3psi (406whp or 487chp) our data was measured on our Dynopack wheel dyno with the stock exhaust system (rear section only, no cats).

Stay tuned...

What kind of engine management are you using?

Does the intercooler require removal of the front bumper brace?

What does the routing of the piping and placement of the turbo look like?

Thanks.

Wow another Turbo coming to the market. Any pics of the set-up, particularly where the Turbo sits and how the manifold and piping are routed. Also what engine management and how is timing addressed? TIA

Currently we are testing a modified version of Tadashi's program both fuel and timing are effected.
Front bumber brace is retained.
Piping comes from the stock manifolds into a Y collector and is routed to the turbo mounted in place of the stock airbox. pipes snake up from the bottom along the block past the A/C compressor and up to the turbo. The down pipe is routed back along side the block top of the manifold.
all piping is stainless with investment cast stainless V-band connections for ease of install and clean leak free fit.
Air filter in mounted out front loacted top of inytercooler via a J shaped pipe hooked to the front of the turbo.

current testing was done with 380cc however at 406whp it started to lean out.

pics will come soon

We should have an answer over the next few weeks. hardware is set the only variable at this point is engine managment.

the Tadashi flash is the best we have seen to date, the car idles and runs just like a stock vehicle. even at 8psi there is absolutly no detonation. we are scheduled to try a couple other alternatives

Default The big question - CARB

California CARB Certified?

Let's see:

PE type injectors.. Is an plug in injector harness provided as APS - or wire it your self as we did on G/TT ?

Are detailed instructions provided? Or a poorly worded translation like the Greddy TT kit?

Adequate customer service and support.. or the "Go f*ck off" we have your money Greddy service?

Time required for ECU programming? Installation time? Amount of underhood heat generated in Stock Air Box Location.. Hood Paint discoloration...

Does Kit work with 5AT ?

More questions to come..

Cheers Amy -

No CARB cert as of yet... the injectors are direct plug in NO re-wiring or modification to harness required.
English instruction, servicable components.
depending on were we design freeze the ecu mods it should only be a day or two. installation time at this point looks to be about 8 hours.
We have made a pre-formed turbine housing heat shield keeps all turbine heat directed away from the hood. We fire wrap one of the A/C lines and it looks as we may have to replace one of the A/C lines...if so this will also be included in the kit.

No testing on the 5AT has been done yet.

Yes...at first glance the engine bays appear the same with the exception to the stock airlet duct. and probably intercooler mounting and plumbing.
Can anybody else varified this?

why are u going to get rid of your vortech? there are some people on this board that i dont understand. I am not poor by an means but how can u guys dump 10s of thousands into your engine. I have herd a few people saying they wish there engine would blow up, so they can rebuild it? wow. I personaly think a vortech system tunned to about 430 rwhp is all i need. I mean i dont think the engine could handle more then that reliable for every day driving.

Mr G35twinturbo

Yes you are appaled and don't spell right.

Some people have resources that are un limited.

That might be the case with the fellow that would like
a better power curve..

Like DBZ33

He might like more power - Just like George W Bush

Amycroft, please excuse my spelling, i do realize that people have unlimited resources, but i was wondering why, there are some people who want there engine to blow up so they can re build it? why cant u just take it apart if u want it done so bad?

Interesting. Sounds like you've placed the turbo in a way roughly analogous to all the centrifical superchargers out there. How's the manifold volume with all that piping?

If the price and reliability are decent you can count me in.
