one important question about TT!!!! a must read!!
i have a 2004 Z 6mt, and i wanna put the greddy tt kit in, no internals done at this point................but dont wanna blow my engine up. do it or dont, keep in mind that i am sponsored so the installation is being done for no cost and professionally done. the tuning will also be done professionally.
so here is the questions and i need real honest answers.......
1. will i blow my engine at the factory 5.5 psi ?
2. is it daily driveable?
3. is it really practical, heard when you tt a car that wasnt made that way from the factory you always blow or have some sory of devastating effect?
4. how many miles has everyone put on the tt kits so far?
note: keep in mind i have an aem wideband gauge and 6 diffrent other guages to monitor......
thank you for the help.

u should be safe with the stock boost. Ive had my TT for 6 months close to 5000 miles and no problems to the engine. Only problems i have is minor exhaust leaks due to burned wastegate gaskets. If u r gonna get sponsored go for it.
does the boost feel normal or is it make it seem like the engine is violent, like as in when you push the engine hard.....thanks for the info by the way. im gonna go ahead and go for it.
I've had my Greddy TT kit for about 7 months now with no problems other than the common problem with the paper wastegate gaskets burning out. I think Greddy is supplying metal gasgets now. If not, save yourself time and money and spend $20 extra for the metal gasgets. Your car will run only as good as it is tuned, so if you have a top notch tuner that knows what he's doing you're car will run great.

E- manage. is there anything im missing, oh i know the cats and exhaust issue is a concern, which one should i go with i was thinkin stillen exhaust and crawfor cats.

The TT's are very daily driveable...arguably more so than the SC..since there isnt a constant drag on the engine. When you arent in the boost, you cant even tell there is a turbo there..it's totally dormant and silent.
Nobody has blown up at 5.5psi, but two people have blown up at the 6.5psi range. This is based on forum knowledge...so its the best we can go on. Both cases are still under investigation as to why. But like most things, some of these VQ motors are stronger than others, so it was likely a weaker than normal rod...although our rods are pretty weak to begin with.
So if you are staying at 5.5psi, you should not have any problems.
I have about 8000miles on my kit...no problems other than the aforementioned wastegate exhuast leaks, which I guess, Greddy has fixed with the better metal wastgate gaskets.

so 5.5psi is ok.....? this is good to know because i dont expect to go past that, how is the boost at 5.5psi do you feel it alot, or is it minimal? and i noticed your at 9psi, is your engine built? how will i see my engine runnin in 70-90k miles, ? by the way i saw your pics and very nice i like what you did with your Z my body kit will be here soon, ill be posting pics.

The car at 5.5 psi is still alot faster than stock. When I turn off my boost controller and only run 5.6 psi, I always am impressed at how fast it is. Smooth, safe and fun!! A properly tuned turbo car running low boost should last about 90% as long as a non turbo car driven the same way. Reliability is sacrificed, but not drastically. Consider reading Corky Bell's book "Maximum Boost". Good luck with your project.

i have never turned up the boost on my car. almost 5000 miles of literally beating the living **** out of the car. boost is normally around 5.5-6 depending on the ambient temp. there are a few occasions where it has spiked a high 6.8-6.9 psi when letting on/off throttle grasping for traction.
i drive the car so hard its not even funny. I floor it up at least every 5 min when driving it. I dont bother taking it unless I have an itch to haul ***.
I run the greddy tune on the E-Manage... all that can be done for more power is to lean it out from there which i think is a horrible idea. I watch my wideband readings all the time and the car runs too lean if i am at high low and low rpm.. such as say you floored it at 2000rpm in 5th gear... when it builds boost sometimes the A/F is in the 13's... so i have been aware of this and never boost the motor under that type of load. It stays clean in the A/F as long as I boost it from the get go, or downshift and start at a higher RPM like I was racing someone.
My car has never run anything less than 100 octane unleaded. yes its expensive at about $58 a tank... especially considering the 5000 miles have been in less then 6 weeks. typically I fill up once a day when i drive the car.
i run stock redline - no upgraded ECU... RPM is a lot of stress on the rods, and the car is fast enough for now. I would never give a customer their car back running more boost or RPM than this just for safty margin.
In one week I probably beat on this car more than the average person in 2 months would.
Thats all I can say about it. Hopefully all will stay well for the next month until my built motor goes in.
