Nice install! Can you post some dyno results?

Nice, did they opt for the sweet carbon fiber engine cover? Buying a supercharger seems worthless without getting some long tube headers.

The reason HKS says not to use headers with this kit is the same reason Stillen says not to use headers: You will lose power! Superchargers like that backpressure created by the stock exhaust, it helps to make boost. If you add all the highflow exhaust goodies you will actually decrease the boost of the blower, hence, less power. The HKS kit, much like Stillen's, will create more power with stock headers and cats.
Overall, looks like a really good kit. Im sure the reason it lacks some top end is because HKS designed it with CARB and reliability in mind, much like Stillen.
Can't wait for some real dyno numbers though so we can really compare it with the Stillen kit.

Jeff, we adjust the pipe as you requested!!!

We just put on the Veilside Full Titanium exhaust today and hopefully will get the car Dyno in the next few days.

Not 100% sure about header not making power on the supercharger. However, the manual said not to change the header because it might damage the connecting rod. So I was assuming that the header would give more power to the car that the connecting rod cannot handle.

We might built the engine later on and see if the header really does increase or decrease horsepower.

MAybe the Crafword Plenum would be useful to install with this mod, to even out the flow to all cylinders!

I like the kit. Is HKS' compressor their own design, or is it derived from somewhere else?

I wonder why the kit doesn't recommend a header change. Perhaps, since increasing the diameter of the primaries leads to less backpressure, this may hold true. What about changing just the design of the header, such as a 3-1 design, without changing the diameter?

I dont get that - I thought the headers would reduce backpressure - meaning you would lose a little boost - that should take some strain off the engine no?

Maybe it has to do with the mapping - probably need an accreditted tuner to make any changes - maybe the ECU solutions completely locked down?

A centrifugal supercharger's boost ouput is rpm dependent. I don't think that backpressure will affect boost, unlike turbos.

TurboEvo: You should probably dyno the SC with and without the full titanium exhaust. What if for some reason it performs better without the exhaust? We won't know unless you dyno without the exhaust first....or unless someone else does it.

Can you confirm what ecu comes with the kit. Is it a FCON S?

The pictures I have seen of the ecu state it is a HKS S/C controller and I assume S/C stands for Super Charger, but what is it really.

I had the same questions. When I spoke to an HKS Rep they told me that it isn't a Fcon S, because Fcon S doesn't control Drive by wire. It's acctually a more advanced unit then the S, and specifically for their S/C kit.

I was always undre the impresion that the ecu is just fuel and timing which *i think* have nothing to do with drive by wire.

If you are correct I wonder if the standard FCON S programming software can configure this unit.

ECUs are much more then Fuel and Timing maps. All the sensors like 02, TPS, water temp and etc.. feed back to the ECU.

A Mechanical throttle body will have its seperate TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) which most aftermarekt engine management can read. Drive by wire like the Z is its own built in TPS which runs differently.

When I look to upgrade engine management I'm thinking about the F-Con Vpro which HKS says can do drive by wire.

Smile So do we have any HKS installs here ?

So do we have any HKS installs here ?

On my next Z

I'm considering a mild and Carb Certified increase..

The HKS fit's the type of freeway - extra HP - 70HP increase..

Just for passing.. and cruising..

Cheers Amy -
