Default Just ordered HKS supercharger!!!!

Also ordered the ARC high capacity oil pan, Nismo low temp thermostat and Denso IKH20 spark plugs, all to optimize heat management. Ordered them all from Z1 auto. Had a nice conversation with Adam. Turns out we both used to own Audi S4's before our Z's.

Anyway, I also had a long conversation with the people at HKS before ordering this kit, and while it may be a little pricier, it is so complete and so well engineered for this car that the slightly higher price is very justified in my opinion. It's not just about the highest power rating. A moderate power boost with solid reliability, daily drivability, and ease of installation goes a long way for me.

Looking forward to reading about how this kit comes together for ya. I'm looking for reliability as well...and this kit sounds great.

I got walked by a supercharged 4th Gen Maxima (Vortech v2) putting 337hp to the wheels. I need something extra...

It was a pleasure speaking with you today Speedracer. I have some friends in the Boston area that have been begging me to come up and visit for the weekend (all car guys BTW!), so maybe we can try to coordinate something once the kit goes in

Sounds good, Adam. Did you ever attend any of the Northeast Audi Aftermarket Expo's when you had your S4. I was the head organizer for that event. It was the biggest all-Audi aftermarket show in the U.S. with all the top tuners in attendance every year. Anyway, this year I acted only in an advisory role to the "new crew" who took over managing that show. I would love to put together an event like this in the Northeast for the Z crowd. Let me know if this is something you might be interested in. Can't wait to get the SC installed!!!!!

Nope, never went to one. While I had my Audi (back in 2000), I was really preoccupied building and tuning my Subaru (2.5 RS with loads of goodies), so the Audi did not get much attention.

However, I'd love to try to get something together for the Z guys!

Can't wait to hear what you think of it after it's in. Looks like a very nice set-up, that's for sure.

Hmmm....let's see....what else can give you 80whp for this amount of money and be completely tuned, reasonably quiet, sure to pass emissions, maintain smoothness and street drivability, and be safe on stock internals? Answer:nothing. You will spend more on NA mods, including labor, to get 60whp(nitrous notwithstanding). The higher power FI kits begin to compromise reliability unless you build the bottom end which is a $5000 investment.

Thats not a bad price. The MSRP of $7250 was hard to swallow, but this price is more reasonable.

Basically, it costs about as much as the Greddy Kit (w/ intercooler) . . . I'm sure that the average install cost is much less than the Greddy though *LOL*. Luckily, I got hooked up

When do you plan on doing the install? I hope you will do some dynoing too.

Yeah man keep us posted. I am currently saving up for this kit and am really intreseted in seeing how it looks installed, performance, sound, etc. Btw, I know this is a bit off-topic but do HKS Blow Off Valves make a woosh sound or more of a higher pitched chirp? I want the "WOOSH"!

why not the stillen?

Good warranty on the full engine, more power, and maybe a leetle cheaper?

The Stillen is 412 HP at the Flywheel right? The HKS is rated at 400 whp, that's horsepower to the wheels, already taking into account drivetrain loss. I'm guessing that's a little over the Stillen rwhp numbers. Also, HKS just has a certain pedigree, a prestige if you will (not that stillen does not). I know I will be purchasing an HKS setup as soon as I have the cash.
