Any SC-ed 350Z or G35s w/stock bottom end and OVER 425rwhp?
Just wondering if anyone has topped my numbers yet?
Curious because I have the upgrade pulleys, but wondering if I really need to try putting them on yet.
Also, I've noticed a LOT of TT cars popping motors lately. Would be interested in comments on any SC with blown motors and how much power they were pushing when it happened.

I think it would be difficult to justify blowing your engine up (sooner) because you really wanted to put the UR pulleys on.
We are currently working on building the AF 350Z into a racecar, and dissassembling the engine has shown us that it has CONSIDERABLE wear and tear. The car has 30,000 miles, and the Vortech S/C has been on the car for about 15,000 if that. The wear looks like from an engine with 100,000 miles.
This car did see considerable amount of time in harsh conditions at the race tracks though.
If I were you I'd stick to what is working for you, which is the setup you have right now. If not, then build the entire engine before proceeding.

I think he just means SC with the regular pulleys. I can believe it. FI puts a lot of stress on a stock motor. When I Vorteched mine, I pretty much figured I would have to do a motor build sooner or later. here's hoping mine holds up a little better than the one igor is talking about above!

I'll let you know if I beat your rwhp numbers... I dynoed twice at 10.2 psi before cams and hit 467rwtq which is the highest I heard of from any SC'ed Z. The high stall torque converter actually decreased my hp and added a lot of torque. I have since added cams and went back to the 8.2 psi and some major tuning.
I'm guessing 410-425rwhp and 390rwtq with the cams and 8.2 psi. I will confirm this in the next week.

can i see your dyno sheet that hits 467 torque please. is this true engine output or is it one of this brief spikes that autos have during/after a shift?

Phunk, you need to get that car of yours into a magazine...quick.
I bet Import Tuner or the other mags would do a spread on your car. Then you could do another article after you build up the motor.

id like to take a look at it. I own a dyno and I have seen several different types of torque spikes and they are related to ignition pickup issues. I have all kinds of examples I could show you.
Basically... if the torque spikes but the HP does not... then that torque spike is not real. Keep in mind that on a dyno, torque is calculated by HP vs RPM. The rollers read the HP, and by knowing RPM and HP it can calculate you torque. In order for a spike in torque to occur, a real one that is, a spike in HP would have to occur.

I just took a pic of the dyno sheet and will send it to you in a sec. The HP does not go up at the same rate (during each spike) as torque but the hp does increase in a linear fashion. The hp was actually less than I remembered but again this was when we were having problems with the converter, ecu flash and release valve sticking. When the dyno tech said 467 holy **** I wasn't surprised because the car would feel super powerful at times and less powerful at other times... Thanks to the release valve sticking and giving me 4 to 10.5 psi.

Decisions, decisions.......money is made to be spent, but you should know what you are getting into before you make the first step towards FI.
