Default Split Second Box serial Port Problems

Since I upgraded my laptop to Win2000 (from win98), I'm having communication problems with the SS box. When writing the map, sometimes it does it OK, and sometimes it just hangs and I have to restart the R4 software. It also seems to take a lot longer to program.

Anyone have this problem? Is there some process running on Win2000 that needs to be killed, or are there some comm port settings I need to change?

Thanks,

Pete

Did you reinstall all of the OEM drivers after the upgrade?

Upgrading from Win 98 to 2000 without a full format is never a good idea. It would be best to make sure you have Windows 2000 drivers for everything, then back up your data, format your computer, and install a fresh copy of Windows 2000. Then load up all your drivers and make sure everything in your Device Manager has functioning drivers. Then try reinstalling the software.

I did do a complete Win2000 installation (not an upgrade).

I didn't reinstall the R4 software, so I'll try that.

Thanks,

Pete

What port speed do you have the com port set to? Make sure its set 48k in Windows. Also you might check with SS on the recommended 8 N 1 Setings..
