Default what mistakes?

But seriously, they put together an increadibly complete kit, and with an attention to detail that honestly...I have NEVER seen in the automotive/tuner world. Very impressed so far.

I would love to see those dyno charts on a dyno-jet....for consistency..in SAE corrected numbers.

Great work everyone!
I was curious...what mistakes did Greddy make besides the whole issue of air bag sensor location, not enough room for the front grill when intercooler installed.

also, what about PE? in addition to the fact that they were having only 4 lbs of boost and that you had to spend another 5-600 dollars for a TS ECU reflash, what other problems did they have?

I will one day purchase a TT kit (prolly a couple years from now after i see the reliability of these kits) and i've heard a lot of good things from APS. But i also heard a lot of good things from Greddy and PE and it's disappointing to hear that they didn't really deliver.

I also didn't want to read through all 20+ pages of the APS thread...although i read that someone got a 12.1 @114 with stock engine...pretty impressive!

OK here is jays mods..
resonated test pipes
Borla true dual
crank pulley..(i think)
And we used sticky tires
But keep in mind he did NOT launch hard nor did he tune it in any way yet. This is how the APS kit comes programmed form the factory, and plug & Play away peoples. No ECU reflash,no upgrading the fuel system and timing to run these times..Simply bolt on the APS as it sits and get some sticky tires!!!

Hi MRC guys and Peter from APS. Have any of you logged any miles on a road course yet, or do you plan to? I have been kicking around the idea of doing a TT on my Z, and the APS kit does appear to be the most complete solution I've seen yet. I take my car to various road courses 1-2 times per month, and typically run 4 or 5 25 minute sessions each day I'm there. My biggest concern is managing the heat generated by the system, and the effects of this heat on the engine, etc. Have you, or do you plan to, put any miles on the kit on a road course?
I'd love the power, but I was having overheating issues with the Z in the desert on even the stock engine. Obviously an oil cooler would help, and I have a Koyo radiator. I'm just wondering whether a vented hood/oil cooler/radiator would be enough to weather the heat storm. Thanks for any data you can provide.

Thanks.

Hey Jeff,

I met you in a show in NJ a few years ago..When your ready for the TT give me a call.. Both of the two other cars we are building will have Koyo radiators and cooler thermostats. so this should solve the heat problem. As far as an oil cooler the APS oil pan has cooling fins and holds an extra QT of oil..

Please don't make me read all the way through that other loooooong APS thread. About how much does the APS TT cost? What has reliability testing shown? Is there installer in MD who has or is installing one? I have the auto tranny but level 10 says their valve body mod and hi performance torque converter can handle the power. So this should be ok right? I can be very satisfied with mid mid to low 12 second qtr mile on stock internals if only long term reliability is strong.

So this should be ok right? heard mixed reviews about level 10... lookup NRH Transmissions in Jessup be very satisfied with mid mid to low 12 second qtr mile on stock internals if only long term reliability is strong. I would say the stock rods are not reliable long-term with F/I

JRitt - if you are overheating the car on a hot track day session (I know what those 100 degree + track can be like....brutal!), then this IMHo is not the way to go...a properly vented hood will help, honestly the koyo radiator really will not do much. Lower t stat may be just waht you need though (to cycle the coolant through the system more frequently)

And that was with only a 3500 rpm launch and 1 heavy Z and 1 heavy driver ..... Car w driver weighs around 3600 lbs..

I think with this setup I could probaly hit high 11's... I had a 12.15 and a 12.10 that night and I wasn't even power shifting... I might try to go this weds again...

We will dyno in a week or two. We did have a few base runs but they were done on a load based dyno and in 4th gear, not 5th.. Which would net lower numbers... But on that day we got 381hp and 35? tq i believe.. Charts are at the shop... I would guestimate that it would be about 405 on a standard dynojet... I will have accurate numbers in 5th gear soon...

Attn more power:
Try to stay away from level 10 i had a greddy turbo kit im my prelude and then did a level 10 tranny kit. Lasted less than 1000 miles and 2 weeks. ended up having to buy a whole new stock tranny and take out the turbo kit and start over.

Also anyone have any idea what a greddy kit would run 1/4 mile at 7 psi. I dont think its that far off.

Oh yes you can! I've got 265/40/R18s mounted on some OEM track wheels. They are nice. In fact, so nice that I'm the one holding the car up, not the tires.
