Default vortech hose question

today while changing my oil and inspecting everything, i noticed that the oil return line from the blower had a little kink it in, and i remembered that when i installed it that it was a little short(dont know why vortech would skimp on that), and the angle it takes causes it to kink, i dont know if its completely closed off but it looked close, this cant be good for the blower, anyway i took it off and drove down to napa for a longer piece.

well, on the side of the hose it says Gates yada yada 1/2inch 300psi, thats right 300psi, now why the hell would you need 300psi on a oil return line?

napa only had low pressure 1/2inch hose that looks exactly like the one i took off, minus the cloth material on the outside. i wasnt sure if it would work, the guy at napa didnt have a clue, so i went to the local turbo/engine shop and he said it would be fine.

does anybody have a clue on if it will be ok, surely an oil return on a gravity fed system shouldnt need 300psi hose, you would think vortech wouldnt skimp on a part that cost 1.30 a foot.

Perhaps the hose needs to support a certain temperature that happens to come in the 300 psi hose type? Just a guess on my part, I am sure you will be fine with what you have purchased.

FYI:

Cover is made of neoprene construction, which is oil and abrasion resistant
GAT 16GMV
300 psi hose
Temperature range: -40° F to +275° F

You can not have any kink in the oil return hose. very Bad.
if the hose is routed correctly, is a nice straight run to the top ov the oil pan.
I think you hose is not routed right.

i know that a kink is very bad, but it cant be a nice straight run because the nipple comes straight down off the blower nd an inch away is intake tube and part of the car that cannot be moved, it has to snake around a little bit, i got a 5 foot piece and im gonna route it another way so it will be a smooth transition.

If this is a 350z?
Trust Me...........
I had the same problem.......
Once you see the right way to route it-it will a nice smooth run.
it comes straight out the bottm of the blower with a nice smooth radius right in to the top of the oil pan.
You my have to pull out the blower to do this right. I did.
Tig- I also thought there was no other way.
And Vortech was very littlehelp with this Problem.
