Default supercharger

Im interested in getting either a Stillen or a Vortech Supercharger for my car....i dont know much about this stuff so bare with me on this. Before you purchase a supercharger what else must be upgraded? Stillen claims that the stage 2 will put out 84hp is this accurate? I like the fact that the stillen is CARB legal and does come with a 3yr 36000k warranty.

Depends what you want and what your HP goals are. Plus you are in Jersey so does CARB mean that much to you?

I would feel safe putting the Vortech kit on an otherwise stock car without tuning it.

Im assuming you meant that you wouldnt feel safe, or you would without tuning it ?? What do i need to upgrade before purchasing a supercharger then? I have the money to spend and am looking to do this the right way.

LouZer,

I just like the fact that stillen backs their products more so than other companies. I noticed you have the vortech sc, would that be a better buy?

with the stillen, you can add a dual exhaust, but pretty much nothing else. It isn't tunable so other bolt-ons don't work well with it.

Really? I have always heard horrible stories about Stillen's customer service. The technician's at Stillen will talk a good game on the phone though. Also, with the Stillen you will have to change or modify your hood. I personally do not like the look of the hood, plus it is an additional expense.

Best bang for the buck on the market is the Vortech SC. You will get around 350rwhp out of the box with no tuning. The stock settings run rich, but it is safe.

I was in love with the power at first, but soon wanted more. With the pulley swap I gained approximately 65HP. The pulley cost $75.

And you can bolt on pretty much whatever you want: headers, test pipes exhaust, etc. But of course, the more power, the less reliable. In stock form the Vortech is no slouch. It will pull harder than the Stillen or HKS.

If you want anymore information just PM me with questions.

Lou

I don't have any vids. I think someone is making one from our last Bay Area meet. I will check on that.

Procharger... hmmm. Haven't heard anything lately. I know initially they had problems because there was no timing solution. I think TS may have a reflash for it, but i'm not sure.
