Default Installing Helix Testpipes

Before I get my Helix pipes installed, do I need to buy resistors or O2 simulators? The shop said I should get 2 resistors so my SES light dont come on. Now what do you guys know about this?

What year is you Z, the 03's don't seem to have any problems, while 04's or at least 04.5's and later have some.

OK, that doesn't say what it is, if it was new then I guess probably not an 03, just give it a try and if it goes off have it reset and see if it keeps coming back. If so, there is a thread here that shows how to make one, do a search for user skidazzle, he wrote up how to make one.

Well...I guess I'm an unlucky '03 owner because I've got the test pipes and it's throwing a code now for the cats. It wasn't doing anything for about 6 months, but then I guess it got a little pissed and decided to give me a cel as a gift. How hard is it to do the resistor deal?

I have a 04 base with a production date of 7/2003. I've had the helix now for 6 months and had no problems with it. I don't see why you would need o2 sims if the helix test pipes have bungs welded on them to accept the oem o2 sensors. i thought sims were used to trick the ecu that the o2 sensor is connnected. ( i could be wrong).

The CEL is most likely a OBD2 cat efficiency code...or in this cat inefficiency because you removed them

yup...what HanZolo said.

Even with the 02 sensors connected, the ECU sees no change in upstream vs. downstream pollutant content. It will essentially think the cats are not working...and throw the code.

Mine comes and goes periodically.
