Default Vortech belt fraying

I got a new belt for my vortech from napa, the 94 inch one. After about 800 miles, the top of the belt is beginning to fray badly. It seems as though the belt is rubbing against something as it goes around, but I cant locate it. Is this belt slightly wider than the goodyear that came with the kit, and if so, is that why? Or should I get a Gates belt like others have recommended? Has anyone else been having the same issue?

If it the top edges that are fraying . Then your belt is to loose , and flopping around and fraying on the bolts that it comes with in a 1/8 of an inch from . Just get a 93 inch belt ....Gates , Napa , Goodyear . Gates sems to be working the best .

Default Do you have a Metal Yard Stick ?

Do you have a Metal Yard Stick ? Two Bucks at Walmart.

We had a Nissan Day Meet at Mossy San Diego.

The North Team had a G35 with a Vortech

The Rather Long "Steel" Vortech Mounting bracket had a visible
Curve to it.

The owner was in dis belief. No I can't see it Bent.

From the starting flat location at the passenger side of the plate, actually at the engine block,,, To the driver side where the Vortech Turbine was mounted was forward about Less than 1/8th inch but more than a 1/16th of an inch - about 3/32th to 7/84th of an inch out of alignment.

If you have a Meter Stick / Yard Stick place it along the plate and use a feeler gauge to check the amount of the bow ot he main mounting plate. Give us your readings.

The angle of the Vortech Compressor shaft to the angle of the Main Drive pully is probably of by 3 or 4 degrees.

Please Open Eye's and measure the convergent alignment.

It's not the belt's fault it's not running on a true Engine center to Compressor center. No wonder the squeek so much.

Some belt's may hold up better to the mis-alignment.

Cheers Amy -
